David Loeffler was born in Long Beach, California and worked hard to beat the odds of a difficult childhood. As a kid, he earned the nickname "Hollywood," because it was clear to those around him that his talent and tenacity would propel him into the limelight. David learned to dance by absorbing the hip-hop culture around him and won competitions through the force of his own creative freestyling. He left home at a young age and scraped by an honest living with little more than his talent and determination and an old Buick Regal to his name. That experience taught David to fear nothing but the limitations one places on oneself. Citing The Artist Formerly Known As Prince as amongst his musical influences, David, like The Artist, infuses wonder and theatricality into the EYC equation. "There's that element of surprise that I like to bring to a show to keep people talking for days afterward," he says.
David, whose lineage is a 50/50 mix of Latin and Irish blood, grew up in a gang and drug-infested area of Long Beach, California, a tough 'hood where the young pacifist escaped the lure of gangs by throwing himself into the grooves of dance and music. He learned some real life lessons on the streets and his performance prowess on the stage.
