SLUGWRENCH - PROLE

Digital incarnations of analog tape saturation meet technical rhythms and loops to create something between techno and industrial. Melodies are etched out of strange wave forms and set to beats beginning as sonic pulses then morphing into creative patterns. Layer upon layer of sound is stacked to create noise, somehow retaining a musical form. Edgy and cacophonous, there are passages forsaking any real form, seeming like pure chaos. Jason Shepherd, who composed, arranged and performed all the music on Prole, has an uncanny ability to sense when things are about to get out of control and manages to keep everything tight. Something like sonic magic, sounds emanate from Prole ine wouldn't necessarily describe as music, but it's pretty cool stuff. (Intolerance, P.O. Box 55701, Tulsa, OK 74155)
