Brian is everyone's buddy and is enthusiastic about the way the Backstreet Boys work together. However fiercely competitive in the realm of video games, Brian says that the Boys know their individual strengths and weaknesses musically. "We're all equally talented but we know each others styles... and we can picture who will do which parts in a song."
Brian gained his singing expertise from local and regional church choirs. He often performed at revivals and weddings. During his high school years, he listened to MC Hammer and Boyz II Men. It was his cousing Kevin who introduced Brian to the other Backstreets.
Brian says all of his family are tricksters, and he certainly wasn't going to be left out. Always the attention seeker, Brian can amuse the other guys on tour or in the studio. Apparently putting Nick and brian together is a recipe for boyish trouble. Having lived with Brian, Aj reveals he's seen every side of him and it can be pretty wild. Kevin says that now they're grown up he and Brian have a real love/hate relationship but even when they do fight, they always make up. "We'd be lost without each other," he adds. Like Kevin, Brian is not a afraid of his emotions - they bith shed a tear when their album went gold.
Brian succeeds in not letting things get him down even when the workload does seem too much to cope with. "Our careers are our lives and so I try not to let a bad day affect it." The Backstreet Boys know that when Brian says 'enough" - it's really time to slow down. Probably the most laid back of the band, when Brian shouts people take notice!
Keeping his feet firmly on the ground Brian knows that the Backstreet Boys have to retain their musical integrity and fresh image to maintain fans' interest. "We've not been around so long that we needn't to worry about our look. If we looked decent, people will keep listening to us"
