A chapter of musical history is going to be published worldwide on October 23. The Backstreet Boys are going to release their
'Best Of' album. 'Chapter One' is the name of the most successful ever boygroup's hit-collection.
And the five guys from Orlando, FL, did certainly accumulate enough material through their career hitherto. Throughout almost ten
years of band history Nick, Kevin, Brian, AJ and Howie obtained everything a musician might dream of: 7 world Music Awards, 6
Billboard Awards, 2 of their albums being awarded a Diamond Award and 3 singles reached platinum status. Their biggest
success was their album 'Millennium' in 1999, reaching #1 in the charts in 25 countries worldwide and being nominated for five
Grammies, among others for 'Album Of The Year'.
To reward their fans' loyalty with a little thank-you the boys pressed their story of success onto one CD. Nick explains why he
and his colleagues are so proud of 'Chapter One': "It just has a bunch of our old songs that we've done for almost a decade and it
has all our best songs that we've ever done. The reason we wanted to put it out was: we wanted to remind people what we've
done and how long we've been around and the songs that we've done in the past because we're really proud of them."
All in all 'Chapter One' is going to be released in 8 different versions worldwide. Apart from the US and Canada version there are
individual compilations for England and South-east Asia, Australia/New Zealand and Japan, Europe, Spain, South and Central
America, Brazil and Sout Africa.
One track will be on all those different versions: Their brand-new song 'Drowning'. "'Drowning' is kind of like a stepping stone to
the next album," says AJ, "just like we've done in the past. 'Shape Of My Heart' was a bridge song from 'Millennium' to 'Black
And Blue', showing the new growth."
The bridge to their next album, their next chapter, that exactly is 'Drowning'. But the Backstreet Boys will hardly "drown", no
matter how many diffulties they had to go through during the last couple of months. And so 'Chapter One' is very likely only the
beginning of an unbelievably successful band history with many more chapters.
