***Keep in mind, this station plays mostly rap and R&B - I've never heard a BSB song on this station!
First, there was some talk about how much AJ was smoking and swearing, but I won't transcribe that part (just
the DJs talking back and forth)
DJ - Listen to the interview, it's really cool, he played a song about the whole thing (rehab) that he's still working on. So it's like,
there's a thing we use call PRO tools where you do music on (It's a digital editor) He had it there, and I saw some music on it, and
I'm like "Can you play that for me?" (I think it was VIDEO???) And he's like "Yah, I haven't played it for anybody. Here - check
it out." So here's the interview:
AJ: I got my 90 days today
DJ: So is it hard?
AJ: It was hard in the very beginning, (coughs - there was a lot of coughing so I won't put each cough in!) it's getting easier, but I
just gotta know where to go, where to hang out, like why do I go to a bar if I'm not gonna drink? But I went recently when we
were in Chicago I went out . . .
Here the DJ interrupts and says he doesn't know how he was singing because "the whole time I was talking to him he was
(clearing his throat) - it's from the cigarettes. When I saw him on stage, I was like, how's he getting the notes out?
AJ (cont): . . . to a little like pool-hall bar, and it was cool, because I sat there and had my coke and my orange juice, and I was
perfectly fine, but, I can't stay there for too long, cuz then it starts to get, I start getting the itchies, and I'm like ok, you know
what? I need to leave.
DJ: How did you get into the whole thing? Was it just like, the partying and just sort of . .
AJ: It was like, a lot of, uh, a lot of depression, stress, anxiety, um . . .
DJ: That's weird for people to hear, cuz you would think somebody in your position, having tour busses like this, having private
planes, it would just be so incredibly awesome.
AJ: I was in the kind of frame of mind then, that I really wanted to be experimental, and see, OK, maybe I'll try drugs, maybe I'll
try drinking, and I figured, ok, I could just try it, and it kinda sucked me in. And I really, I've got a real bad addictive personality, it's
not even, that's kind of like an excuse for it. It's more or less just what, it's kind of almost hereditary, cuz I . .
DJ: What did you, um, what did you guys think actually about the whole Jamie Foxx thing. (Geez, what an original and up-to-date
question!)
AJ: I think he thought that it'd be a funny skit, just because, you know, not directed negatively towards me, I guess because you
have to figure that that kind of press is gonna happen anyways. It was a shocker to us, we were back stage getting ready to
present the very first award, and next thing you know, Brian, when he pulled open the bottle of champagne, Brian ran back up
onstage and you don't actually see him, he's like off camera, cussing at him, saying you know, that crap ain't right, what are you
doin? And that's when he answered with "It's just apple cider." You know, but. . .
DJ: So when he answered that, that wasn't part of the skit, he was just responding? Yah.
(Then the DJ explains about the VMAs.)
DJ: The whole thing that happened to you, did that bring you closer together or farther apart?
AJ: It brought us alot closer together, I mean, the rest of the guys, Nick especially, whose going through his little phase right how
with partying and you know, being 21, has really chilled out immensely, cuz he's seen what's happened to me, and I've told him, I
said, "Dude, believe me, it was a blessing in disguise in some ways, but at the same time, I don't want to see you going down the
path I went, because believe me, it was hell."
DJ: I know you guys are gonna do like a Best of compilation, or is that rumors?
AJ: The next which drops on October 30th, actually, is called Chapter One: A Collection of Hits.
DJ: Any new stuff on there?
AJ: Drowning is the new single
DJ: Tell me it's fast
AJ: It's actually like a mid-tempo
DJ: Any new stuff that you can play or no?
AJ: Actually, I can pull something up for ya, uh, yah, I've actually got one I wrote, it's something different. You know it's not your
usual.
HERE IT IS:
I've seen people come and go
I've seen people >>>>>>> and lonely now (?Unsure)
As my mother told me,
she said don't let life control me
But I did
So whatcha think of me?
Whatcha think of me now?
Who I am
I'm everything you wanted me to be
As you can see
I'm not very happy
I need some time to find myself within me
I need some time to find true love
And if I can't then I won't stop trying
If I don't then I won't live life
What do people really want?
They wanna be happy (They wanna be happy)
AJ: It's deeper than the usual, but it's kind of like a universal song for everyone, cuz everybody in the world wants to be happy.
DJ: How many cd's , do you have a set number of cds that you guys want to come out with?
AJ: Um, contractually we're supposed to have 7 albums total with Jive
DJ: and what's gonna happen after that? Do you at some point wanna say OK this has been incredibly awesome, I have a lot of
money, and it's time to chill out or do my own thing/ or
AJ: We're all gonna take some time off and go do solo things, and maybe go back into acting and stuff like that, but we're never
gonna actually break up. We're gonna just do our own thing and then just come back together and keep on doing it.
Then the DJ says that isn't all of the interview (he did interview all of the guys) but he had trouble with his recorder so that was all
he had. He commented on some "hot girl" in the bus that he thought must have been AJ's girlfriend. also a bouncer, and then they
went to the studio in the back of the bus. He took some videos, and he said they'll put it online (online a short time).
He talked about how incredible their tour buses were.
That's it. Enjoy!
