LOS ANGELES (The Hollywood Reporter) --- Michael Jackson, Mick Jagger, James Brown, Ricky
Martin, Kiss and 'N Sync will come together for the "United We Stand" benefit
concert in Washington as the music community continues its efforts to aid the victims of last month's
terrorist attacks on in New York and Washington. Aerosmith , Al Green and
Backstreet Boys also have been confirmed as part of the eclectic lineup.
The Clear Channel Entertainment event will be held Oct. 21 at RFK Stadium in Washington. All
proceeds from "United We Stand" will benefit the American Red Cross Relief
Fund, the Pentagon (news - web sites) Relief Fund and the Salvation Army Relief Fund.
"Music is a common language that brings people together in times of triumph and sadness," Clear
Channel Entertainment chairman and CEO Brian Becker said. "We support the president's call for
unity and are extremely proud to contribute in any way we can to help these stellar artists raise money
to assist in recovery efforts and to show their support for the military who are risking their lives for our
safety."
This marks the fourth benefit event produced by Clear Channel. In addition to Monday night's "Stand
Up New York" event, the entertainment conglomerate is also behind "Concert for the Americas," to be
held Oct. 20 at Madison Square Garden in New York, and "Country Freedom Concert," scheduled
for Oct. 21 in Nashville.
'N Sync, Backstreet: United They Sing

This whole "united front" thing is getting out of hand: First it was Democrats and Republicans, and now
it's... 'N Sync and the Backstreet Boys?!?
In an unprecedented union between the Orlando-based boy band and, um, the Orlando-based boy
band, the supergroups confirm they will lead an all-star lineup for United We Stand, a benefit concert
set for October 21 at RFK Stadium in Washington, D.C.
Bon Jovi, the Goo Goo Dolls, Ricky Martin and Carlos Santana are also reportedly confirmed for the
show, 'N Syncer Lance Bass said Monday in a taped interview for MTV's Total Request Live.
Though details are still sketchy, the concert will donate proceeds to relief and recovery efforts
following the September 11 tragedies (the specific charities are still being worked out).
"It's amazing," Bass said. "President Bush is definitely backing it up, and we have
everyone from Aerosmith to Matchbox Twenty, us, Britney, Bruce Springsteen...So
many people are coming out and really supporting this thing ...and Michael Jackson will be there. It'll
be big."
Actually, artists such as the King of Pop, Springsteen and Aerosmith are not yet confirmed for the
show, reps for 'N Sync's label, Jive Records, said Monday. And one other artist
Bass mentioned won't be there: Britney Spears is actually going to be stuck in rehearsals for her fall
tour and unable to make the RFK show, her spokeswoman said.
For all of the major concert benefits being held following terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center
and the Pentagon, United We Stand marks one of the first to be held in the
Washington, D.C., area as opposed to New York. The show will go down just one day after another
benefit show at Madison Square Garden, The Concert For New York featuring Paul McCartney, the
Who, Mick Jagger and James Taylor, among others.
In the case of Bon Jovi and the Goo Goo Dolls, the groups will be hustling that
weekend--they're slated to play both shows in New York and D.C.
