FORT MYERS BEACH, FL (April 29, 2002) - Celebrity guest and star of "Megalodon," Leighanne Littrell received the Fort Myers Beach Film Festival's "Rising Star" award on Saturday.
Festival host and local ABC News Anchor Sharon Gregory presented Ms. Littrell with an engraved glass obelisk in a velvet lined box at the festival gala held at Tetley's Steak and Stone.
Unlike many festivals that honor legends in the film industry and retired celebrity figures, Fort Myers Beach took a different approach and acknowledged a young actor.
Ms. Littrell has had an eclectic background, ranging from professional gymnast to model, actress, singer/songwriter and wife. The native of Marietta, Georgia is also
a business owner who has combined her beauty with her business savvy. Along with "Megalodon," she stars in the feature film "Olive Juice," a romantic comedy in which she not only
starred, but also co-produced along with the soundtrack. Her partner in the music was her husband Brian of the famous Backstreet Boys.
She has also been seen in such films as "Wild America" with Jonathan Taylor Thomas and "My Fellow Americans" with James Garner and the late Jack Lemmon. Ms. Littrell has had a
significant presence on television, too, starring in many commercials and daytime television series. Before moving to Los Angeles, she was a model in Atlanta.
Presented by the Town of Fort Myers Beach, the 2nd Annual Fort Myers Beach Film Festival was a fun, diverse, and entertaining three-day event that encompassed the entire
community April 26-28th. The annual event presents a perfect opportunity to showcase businesses and organizations that support family entertainment and visual arts. Dates for next
year's event will be announced later this summer.
