NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- Backstreet Boy Howie Dorough hopes to win the hearts of
condo shoppers here, resuscitating the former Mediterranean project.
Condominium development has become a family business for Dorough and his
siblings, John Dorough and Angela Herring, said Jim Wichlacz of Central
Florida Realty, which is marketing the 19-unit condo building at 2200 N.
Atlantic Ave.
The Doroughs paid Daytona Beach investor Albert Segev $1.02 million for the
oceanfront building site.
A previous attempt to develop a condo at the site failed, but Wichlacz said
many of the features and much of the original design will be kept.
Construction on the eight-story building is expected to begin around the end
of the year -- but the city must still give the project final approval.
The condos will be priced from $399,000 to the mid-$600,000s.
