The BSB member prepares his debut as a soloist, but rules out that the band
will break up
Miami - Still a member of the Backstreet Boys, Howie D ruled out that the
group would break up this year, but since he has free time, he took
advantage of these days to talk with different producers with the purpose of
giving a Latin flavor to his debut CD as a soloist.
Howie Dorough was present yesterday at some of the conferences that
Billboard organized for its Latin music division, and in an interview he
explained that he is already taking a look at his professional future in a
personal way.
"We are taking a break, and although many people have said that we are going
to break up, that is not true, at least for this year, because we still owe
(our record company) a CD - what I can say is that each of us is taking a
look a what we will do individually," Howie D assured us.
The member of the quintet commented that he came to talk with producers like
Rudy Prez, Chris Rodrguez, and Kike Santander to see what on what
arrangements they could make in the production of his first solo CD.
"I like the Latin sound, its rhythms, its musical contrasts and the intense
flavor/feeling that they have in their interpretations," he said.
Among his favorites, he said, he finds Marc Anthony and Gloria Estefan;
because of that, he doesnt discount that his sound will have a certain
influence from what they have done.
Additionally, one of his assistants, who accompanied Howie in his visits to
the local production companies, spoke with Ricky Martin to get his advice,
and he intends to speak with Alejandro Sanz to see if he can record one of
his songs.
*misha's note* I don't know if he meant Howie wanted Sanz to record one of
his songs, or if Howie wanted to record on of Sanz's songs, but I think he
meant the latter
In the group made up of Howie, Nick Carter, Kevin Richardson, A.J. McLean
and Brian Littrell, we find it is in "stand by"; each member in the past
months has done separate projects.
Nick has launched his solo CD "Now or Never", Kevin finished his interval on
the stage of the musical "Chicago" on Broadway, and AJ and Howie (sic, I
think they meant Brian) have dedicated themselves to spend more time with
their families.
