J.D. Crowe pulled out his banjo for his induction into the Kentucky Music
Hall of Fame at the Frankfort Civic Center last night.
Tonight, Ricky Skaggs, a former member of Crowe's New South band will give a
benefit performance for the Hall of Fame at Renfro Valley.
The two bluegrass musicians were among the second group of inductees into
the Kentucky Music Hall of Fame.
The hall's class of 2004 also includes:
� Vocal ensemble The Coon Creek Girls led by Pilot native Lily Mae Ledford.
� Orchestra leader Billy Vaughn.
� Madisonville gospel singers Vestal and Howard Goodman.
� Songwriter Jerry Chesnut, a native of Loyall, whose songs were performed
by Dolly Parton and Porter Wagoner, Del Reeves and George Jones.
� Paducah saxophonist Boots Randolph, best know for the instrumental hit
Yakety Sax.
Several other Kentucky natives were honored last night:
� Country star Dwight Yoakam was given the Governor's Cup Award.
� Backstreet Boys Kevin Richardson and Brian Littrell were given Ambassadors
