Backstreet Boy ups his local profile

Backstreet Boys' Brian Littrell was the only non-country singer at a star-studded fund-raiser last night at Loews Vanderbilt Hotel.

Brian and Terry Hemmings, the big cheese at Christian-based Provident Music Group, were together at the froufrou Nashville Best Cellars dinner to raise money for the T.J. Martell Foundation, which does cancer and HIV research.

Yes, this does mean that Brian is moving forward with plans to do a solo Christian album for Provident, home to Michael W. Smith, Third Day and others, Brian's Nashville-based lawyer, Jordan Keller, said yesterday.

Brian and the rest of the Boys are recording an album this month in L.A., and they hope to release it in late summer/early fall, said Jordan, Brian's longtime lawyer who now is the attorney for the entire group. (Mazel tov!)

Then the Backstreet Boys start a tour this fall to support the album. (Backstreet's back? All right!)

After that is over, Brian will come back to Nashville to make his Christian album, Jordan said. But Jordan warns that the deal with Provident is not done yet, so things could change.

Either way, Brian, a Kentucky native who lives in Atlanta, also plans to set down more roots in Nashville. He'll be the host of a fund-raiser golf tournament June 21 with the private East Academy in East Nashville. Go to eastacademy.org for more info.

East Academy would split proceeds with Brian's Healthy Heart Club for Kids, which encourages good heart health for kids and helps those kids who need heart surgery cover expenses.
