Source: Sharon Osbourne site
In honor of Colon Cancer Awareness Month, Sharon devoted today's show to
honoring cancer patients, survivors and their families. Backstreet Boy Kevin
Richardson joined Sharon to talk about losing his father to colon cancer,
the importance of early detection and his work with the Colon Cancer
Alliance.
Sharon also welcomed several of her friends who have struggled with colon
cancer: Sam Taylor-Wood, Danny Zelisko and Steve Dudas. Each of them shared
their story of their symptoms, treatment and eventual triumph. They also
talked with Sharon about how their families dealt with the shock. Amber
Ozbun, a 19-year-old who was recently diagnosed with Stage 3 colon cancer,
joined Sharon and Sam Taylor-Wood to talk about how her life has changed and
her prognosis. To allay her fears, Sharon and Sam shared their stories of
perseverance and survival.
To show how the American Cancer Society can help cancer patients, Sharon
went live via satellite to the American Cancer Society Information Center in
Austin, TX, where their employees took her on a virtual tour and showed her
how they assist people on their 24-hour hotline. Sharon also reunited three
people who met through their online chat support group: Judy, Rob and Stacy.
