All you Backstreet Boys fans, check this out. Your very own Nick Carter and Brian Littrell have been floored by the oomph lady Mallika Sherawat and the boys now want her to add fizz to their forthcoming music video.
Having already sold roughly 74 million copies, the boys are on a promotional tour of their recently launched album Never Gone. This is the first album that the band launched after it broke up in 2000. In an exclusive email interview to Calcutta Times, Howie Dorough of Backstreet Boys said, "We wanted to make sure this album would give us a shot again to be around for the long haul so people will realise that we're not, hopefully, a flash in the pan in their eyes. The music has matured. We started recording in January last year and we were just experimenting, just trying different sounds."
The music video of Incomplete, one of the songs from Never Gone, is already a chartbuster. The boys are keen on using Sherawat for the next video of a song from this album. Brian said, "We were just talking about how we've sold a million albums in India and how we should perform there for the Never Gone tour. We've never been there. And then, our manager showed us this picture of this Indian actress at the Cannes film festival on his laptop. Our manager did some research and told us that she was an actress named Mallika Sherawat."
And what is it in Mallika that interests the boys? Well, Brian admits that it's Mallika's looks that's got them hooked. "Now, we have added incentive to come to India to meet her. If she's willing, we'd definitely like to use her in a music video sometime. She's definitely got the look," Brian added.
Though Mallika was not available on her cellphone, her spokesperson Parull Gossain said, "She is a great fan of Backstreet Boys. She is very excited and is considering this offer." Mallika will talk at length to the press about this offer and more during the promotional campaign for the Govind Menon film Bachke Rehna Re Baba with Rekha.
Meanwhile, even the international press has given flattering compliments to Mallika's Cannes presence. The May 30 issue of Time magazine has described her as the hottest paparazzi magnet. "Bollywood bombshell Mallika Sherawat's warm smile and tight dresses restored Cannes's rep as a showcase for steamy glamour" wrote Richard Corliss on the Time International website. Another reporter in the same website wrote: "We also met Mallika Sherawat, the Bollywood bombshell who will co-star with Jackie in his new film, The Myth. Articulate, friendly and forthrightly ambitions, Sherawat impressed... and instantly raised the temperature. And Jackie and his fellow Chinese proved that there is plenty of star quality left in Cannes, if only you know where to look for it."
