Breakfast With Brian In New York

This is Ziva's account of the breakfast with Brian and the fantastic trip over there from Slovenia. Please don't use it anywhere else without asking permission first. Thank you.

Breakfast with Brian event

On Friday, the day before the event, my parents drove me to Venice, Italy. From there I had a plane to Paris, France and from there to New York. The flight was long and quite boring. Finally we landed with almost half an hour delay. It was already dark outside. I was really excited cause this was my first time to the USA, but I was also very scared, cause this is a big city and there was no one waiting for me outside at the airport. After almost 2 hours after our landing I got to hotel. Ashlee was supposed to be waiting for me, but I didn't see her anywhere. I went to the reception desk and asked for her, but this guy couldn't find her in the computer. I asked for another room for me, but I guess this just wasn't my night. I didn't have a credit card, only cash, so they didn't want to give me a room. I was on the edge of breaking down. After all the worries, thinking about what's going to happen to me and how I'm going to find my friends, I finally found one guy at the reception desk, who knew how to use the computer and he found Ashlee immediately. I got the key and headed to the room. On the way there I bumped into Ashlee, Sandra and one of Sue's daughter. Then I also met Melissa, Sue and her son and the other daughter. It was nice to see how we came from different parts of the world, but yet we had something in common - we were brought together by Brian love:)

After a night with almost no sleep I met another friend Amy and her daughter. And at the ESPN Zone I met Debra. Let me tell you something about her: she's an angel. Without her I wouldn't have a chance to come to the Breakfast with Brian event. I decided to go to New York a bit too late and there were no tickets left. But she said to me that I can confirm my flight arrangements, cause she found a ticket for me. I was the happiest girl alive at that time, although I didn't know where she get it and she didn't want to explain that to me. Before I went to NY she sent me an email and told me how she got it - she gave me HER ticket and then she was looking for another for herself. If she wasn't so lucky, she wouldn't go to the brekfast. And she found someone who gave her ticket only a week before the breakfast. I'll never understand why she did something so special for me, but I'm thankful to her from the bottom of my heart and there's nothing on this world that could repay what she did for me.

Finally we were in and they showed us our table. Everything seemed so perfect. I was impressed by the HHC bags for everyone. And then Jackie and Harold came down. I couldn't believe that these are REALLY the people from pictures... Then I saw Brian walking down the stairs. My heart was beating so fast. I just couldn't get it that this is really the man himself. He walked by 2 metres away from me. It felt like a dream...

He said hello to us, told us why Leighanne couldn't come and explained us what the money raised from this event will mean to the HHC. Then he answered some questions. He was so funny - all the funny faces and voices he made. And he's a very good speaker.

After that they us into two different groups one was going to meet Brian and the other one had to wait. I was in the second one. I decided to use this time for looking at the auction items and for eating something. Then I sat down and watched Brian how he was talking to his fans, hugging them, taking pictures with them

Finally the second group had to go in line. There were also Jackie and Harold. His mom is so funny and she talks all the time. His dad is really proud of his son, you can see that. I took a picture with them and asked them to sign my breakfast ticket. They were so nice - I'm not surprised that Brian turned into someone so special too. Then it was my time to meet Brian I was SO out of space and nervous. I went to him and we hugged. I just know that I was babbling all the time. He asked me, where I'm from and I answered him that I'm from Slovenia, Europe. He was blown away by how far I came just to see him. I told him that they were once in Slovenia, in year 96 or 97. He smiled: "Aw, I can hardly remember." I thought I was going to die, cause he was just so genuinly adorable Then I gave him my card with the poem I wrote for him and Leighanne and he was impressed by my handwriting. Then I gave him also Isla's poems and told him how she, Donna and Lea want me to say him "hi". He smiled and said how I have to say hi back to them. Then we took a picture, which I hardly remember. I just know that I put my right arm across his back and he did the same with his left arm over my back. I also gave him his picture and he signed it for me. Then I asked him if they're going to tour in Europe and he answered how they're making a new album and that with this one they'll come to Europe too. I think I asked him if he promise me that and he said yes. I have no idea how I managed to get away from him. I don't even remember if I said thank you, but better for me that I did! I went away and looked for Debra. I just hugged her and almost start crying. Then it REALLY hit me, that I just met Brian. I was all shaking. Debra told me that I made Brian laugh when I was walking away from him. Now it really makes me want to know, what I told him!

He's everything I ever imagined about him. And lots more! He looked gorgeous as he always does. He looks you straight in the eyes and you have the feeling he sees to the deepest part of your soul. His eyes are just the most beautiful thing I've ever seen. It's like he would have a million of diamonds in his eyes. The pictures just don't do him justice. I couldn't even concentrate on what he was talking, I was completely drowning in his eyes. And he listens to every sinlge word you say and that makes you feel special cause you can see, how he's interested in everyone.

After the meet and greet there was an auction. Brian told us who leads in silent auction, then the verbal auction began. He was acting like an auctioneer and I was almost on the floor cause I was laughing so hard.

After that we had to go to the 3rd floor. Brian was playing some games with the people who won in the auction. We had an opportunity to play the games too, but I rather looked for Brian and watched him playing those games. Then Brandon came and said we have to get downstairs, where we had brunch. Brian came down soon too. It's interesting how he was so relaxed while eating in front of so many people. I know that it would bother me if I had to eat when everyone would be staring at me, taking pictures of me etc. He was also on the phone with his wife and he made us yell hello to her.

Then Jackie talked about Brian and HHC and we watched the HHC video. There were pictures of Brian when he was in the hospital, when he was 5, when he was with nurses, etc. Brian was watching the entire video - he didn't take his eyes off of it and he got really emotional he was crying. He was just being him and he was showing real emotions and that's what really got to me - I started choking up too. Jackie kept rubbing her hand up and down Brian's back, when we were watching the video. That was such a touching sight

When I first met Brian and his parents, I was totally out of myself, I couldn't believe I'm really in the same room with them. But just like that I got this feeling like I've known them for ages. They make you feel like you're part of their lives. It's amazing how full you feel when you're with them and how empty you're when they leave.

I already got the pictures that Saturday afternoon and was almost crying cause everything already happened. This was definitely the best day of my life. Later that day we went to Hard Rock Cafe, where we met with other MFC members. I met some wonderful people from all over the world. It really amazes me how the Boys brought so many people from all around the world together. We would never know each other but now we do thanks to the BSB, their music and their personalities.

Next two days I was sight-seeing first with Sandra and then alone, cause everyone already left. It was hard to say goodbyes to such wonderful friends as Debra, Sandra, Sue, Ashlee, Amy and Melissa. Even though we may never meet again, they made a big difference in my life and I hope we stay in touch forever. Thank you for making my dreams come true and for giving me the memories that will be engraved on my heart for a lifetime.
