DEFECTING Spice Girl Geri Halliwell today gets an offer she may not be able to refuse - starring in the upcoming London version of the Broadway show "The Life." Producer Marty Richards has told his British agents to move with all speed to sign "Ginger Spice," now that the Cy Coleman-composed show is shutting here Sunday. Playing a 42nd Street hooker wouldn't be all that great a stretch for Ms. Halliwell. She did turn up in the buff in a recent Playboy. And, as Richards notes, "The characters in "The Life' wear a lot more clothes than the Spice Girls do." Richards and his team are bitterly disappointed at having to close the show here. "You wonder if musicals have any future on Broadway, given the costs," he says. But he hopes that a hook like having a former Spice Girl, plus most of the brilliant Broadway cast, will bring major financial success in London.
