Dustin's kickass lessons: Basic Exercises These exercises basically build up everything that a guitar player needs. Now for exercise 1, this is just a basic scale to warm up your fingers and your hands. First take this slow so you can get the hang of it then once you get used to it you can take it faster. To practice hammer ons/pull offs, just hammer on to each fret on each string. If you want to practice slides then just slide to each fret.
