At an age of ten I was hooked on Bryan Adams and Bon Jovi. Both So Far So Good and Crossroad were the main reasons why I became a rocker and not a follower of pop and dance. Other important albums followed - the entire Bryan Adams collection, Slippery When Wet (subsequently the entire Bon Jovi collection, including all solo albums by both Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora), Appetite For Destruction, Brothers In Arms (Dire Straits), No Remorse (Motorhead), Live And Dangerous (Thin Lizzy), The Ultimate Experience (Jimi Hendrix), Song Remains The Same Soundtrack (Led Zeppelin), Little South of Sanity (Aerosmith) a couple of Santana albums and more resonantly, Greatest Hits of Lenny Kravitz.

Major Idles and influences:-

Bryan Adams - Not only is he the reason why I am a rocker, but I was lucky enough to see him in concert in '98, and the guitarist, Keith Scott, was amazing! One of my favourite albums is Live!Live!Live!, it's an album which I could never get tired of. However, in the last couple of years, I haven't been paying much attention to my No.1 idle as I am not impressed with some of the material on his latest album - I think he gave up after 18 `til I Die! Come on Bry!- another Wakin' Up The Neighbours will do me!

Bon Jovi - One of my favourites to date! Jon on vocals, Richie on lead and Tico on drums - what a combination! Probably took the place which Bryan Adams once had. Wanted Dead or Alive - a great favourite of mine and Livin' On A Prayer one of the greatest rock anthems ever produced! I bought the Live From London Video last year (up `til than I hadn't seen Bon Jovi Live) and I was totally blown away! From start to finish I was amazed! Straight away I was convinced that Richie Sambora was God! - Ok, not as good as Hendrix or Page but the image, the sound, the feel, he just rocks! The extended solo in Always is still one of my favourite solos to date. After watching the video I recorded it through my stereo and had the ultimate live album. I wasn't entirely pleased with their last album, Crush - I guess I was hoping for slippery part two! But hey, there are some cool tracks on there! One Wild Night should have been released though, because it's Livin' On A Prayer part 2, and Thank You For Loving Me was a flop. I think they tried to make another Always, but..…failed! Rock on boys!!!

Dire Straits - What can I say? - Outstanding! Mark Knopfler's guitar work is truly amazing. He transforms whole songs with his solos and licks and has a voice, which matches the music so well. Brothers In Arms is my favourite album but I also really like Love over Gold (Telegraph Road been one of my favourites). Up to now I haven't got any live Dire Straits, though I have heard On the Night, but plan to by some asap.

Guns N' Roses - My true heroes. I brought Appetite For Destruction to impress a girl, but instead, ended up been one of there biggest fans! At this moment my biggest idle is Slash. Guitar work such as Paradise City, Sweet Child O'mine, November Rain, You Could Be Mine, Civil War and Rocket Queen (off the live best of album) makes him stand out from the rest. I have recently brought Slash's Snakepit, and the verdict - outstanding. He never seizes to amaze me, with his super fast licks and distorted solos which will just live on forever, - is there no end to his greatness?! I also like Axl's voice. When I first listened to Appetite For Destruction, I couldn't stand his voice, but by the time Nightrain had finished I couldn't get enough! Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end. - Unlike Bon Jovi and Bryan Adams Guns N' Roses are dead and buried - one of the biggest tragedies in rock music since Phil Lynott died.

Jimi Hendrix - The God of all guitarists! - even long gone now, still tops the list! Although I don't have much Hendrix, what I have got is amazing. Songs like All Along The Watch Tower, Purple Haze, Voodoo Chile, Fire and his version of Star Spangle Banner are masterpeices. Two other favourites of mine are Castles Made Of Sand and Little Wing which have really influenced me and my love of rock music.

Thin Lizzy - A more recent discovery in the last couple of years found me one of the biggest bands of the `70's and early `80's. I can never rember the guitarist's names but there are quite impressive. Favourites of mine include Emerald (check out the solo!), Jailbreak (incidentaly, `JaylBreak' was nearly the band name,-that and Dead Heat), Thunder and Lightning, Parisienne Walkways, Still In Love With You, Whiskey In The Jar and Dancin' In The Moonlight. I only have Live and Dangerous and a greatest hits of album to date and desperately need more, but from what I've heard I'm hooked!

Led Zeppelin - The ultamate rock band, they had everything - great vocalist, great drummer and to top it the legend that is Jimmy Page. I first got hooked to Zeppelin when I went to watch a tribute to them at a local pub. I had no idea what Zeppelin sounded like because I hadn't heard any of their music, but I was told that the tribute `Fred Zeppelin' was the closest we were going to get to the real thing. The day after the gig, I went out and brought the Remasters album to get a taste of the real thing. I couldn't tell the difference!! Fred were Led and there was no telling them apart! Obviously after a year now I can tell the difference, but they are so close to the real thing it's unbelievable! Zeppelin are probably in my top 3 now, behind Guns N' Roses and Bon Jovi and there songs will always have a big influence on me and the rest of the band - after all it was Paul who got me to go to the Fred gig - thanks Paul!
