"We wrote Christmastime a little after Christmas Break. I had the riff in my head all the way back on the plane, with lyrics coming to me like every five minutes. It's probably my favorite song, its got a lot of sentimental value. I had just lost all hope of getting back with my girlfriend, and the only way to release the pain of something like that for me is to write song about it, so when she hears it she'll feel really bad. Just kidding! No, really, this is the ultimate expression of emotion for me, writing a song... Anyway, I bring it to Paul, he smacks on that bridge, and boom, Perry records it. We got Beth on Cello, it just didn't seem right making a ballad without strings..."
