Bannockburn 1314 On the 23rd and 24th of June 1314 near the Burn of the Bannock outside Stirling. King Robert the Bruce - The Hero King and his Scottish Patriots faced and slaughtered the greatest army in Christendom at that time under Edward II. This was the beginning of the end for the English occupation in Scotland and within a period of years the last bastion under their control was taken over by the Scots thus ending The Scottish War of Independence.
