Painted People Part FiveThe Orde of Brude This is one of The Six Trials of The Sinneballachan PBrude was a Pictish King known for his prowess in battle. At one time he was out hunting with some friends on land that was on the fringes of The Banshee Kingdom and was attacked by a force of Banshees. The Banshees were a monstrous people, cannibalistic by nature and sworn enemies of The Picts. During the engagement, Brude was fighting no less than five Banshees at the one time with his Cabach Slachman - A curved Pictish sword which was called 'The Orde of Brude'. Brude struck by a blow from a mace, slipped and a Banshee bit King Brude's sword arm off above the elbow, The Banshee was last seen running into the forest eating the arm with the Orde of Brude still attached. Successive Pictish Kings had vowed to retrieve The Orde of Brude, but not until Torcull went into The Land of The Banshees and fought and beat Comgall - the Banshee Warlord in a challenge for The Orde of Brude, did the Orde return to The Picts. Torcull slew The Great Teuchtan Kelpie with it.Back tae Painted People |
