I'd been looking forward to this show for weeks, not just for two of my favourite local bands, Where's The Pope? and Truth Corroded, but to see Aussie hardcore legends, Mindsnare. I arrived at Flinders a bit late, so unfortunately I missed the first band, Out Of Order. I arrived while Truth Corroded were setting up, and I looked forward to seeing them again. Truth Corroded finally started, but the crowd seemed a little less than enthusiastic and a bit wary of the band, as they weren't straight out hardcore punk, but had a more modern metal tinge. Truth Corroded with 'Discontent' from their self-titled CD, and went on to play a mix or songs from that release and others which they said they will be releasing soon. The highlight of the Truth Corroded set for me was the awesome track 'Pig' which also features on their CD. After a short break, No Grace took the stage and proceeded to play a set full of what seemed like very short, very loud and very fast punk songs, in true old-school 80's style. I must admit to having no prior contact with No Grace except maybe the odd song on a compilation, so I really didn't know what to expect. Most of the crowd seemed to, and also seemed to enjoy the show. After No Grace came legendary Adelaide band Where's The Pope? who blew the crowd away with what I think was the best set of the night. The crowd seemed to really enjoy the show put on by Frank and the boys and the younger fans seemed especially pleased with what will be WTP?'s last all ages show for quite some time. There were many highlights throughout this set for me, but the best was saved for last. I recently purchased WTP?'s self titled CD (after months of searching), and was hanging out to hear some tracks from that release. It got to the last song, and still no sign of this material, but then Frank invited everyone who knew the words to that CD's closing track (Sunday Afternoon BBQ's) to get up on stage and help them sing. This sort of reminded me of the awesome live version of Pennywise's 'Bro Hymn Tribute' and the Vans Warped Tour earlier in the year, except this time I was actually on the stage. Anyway, after the WTP? was the long wait for the band whom many consider to be the best hardcore band in Australia. The wait was lengthend somewhat by the setting off of a fire alarm, and as a result Mindsnare's set was cut short. I'm not sure just how short the set was, but I'm pretty sure they only played for around 30 minutes, and this included a five minute break when guitarist, , broke a string.

Thinking that this gig began at 5pm, I arrived to find an absolutely dead Royal Hotel, and the fear that maybe NIL had cancelled this show. As I entered the doors to the back section of the hotel, where the concerts are held, I discovered who I guessed were Scrubby Rubbable (the first support band) setting up and doing a soundcheck. My fears of a cancellation were alleviated when I was asked to leave unless I was with any of the bands. Phew, looks like the show's still on. Before Scrubby Rubbable were due to take the stage, 'nature called' for me, and I was shocked to find three of the members of the band in the 'Men's' changing into womens swimsuit's. This was gonna be fun. Scrubby Rubbable turned out to be one of the most enjoyable bands I have ever seen, up there with the likes of Beaverloop and The Avalanches, but they were nothing like these two bands, they were weirder. These guys had the most unique sound that I have ever heard, and I realised that they knew it when they played a song which took the piss out of hip hop crews who stole beats and rock bands who stole riffs,
