When I received an autograph request back from St. Louis Rams quarterback Kurt Warner on
August 18, 2001, I was thrilled. I knew that he probably wouldn't sign the card that I had
sent him, but had heard that he sends his own card back to autograph seekers. However, I was
surprised to find an error on the back of this card, though I'm sure it will not be corrected
in future printings. Here's the back of the card:
Warner is advocating the "sinner's prayer" on this card. I'm sure you've heard of it. It is the prayer that many religious persons believe is all that is needed for salvation. This prayer, however, cannot save anyone. That is not the plan that God designed for salvation.
The Bible gives us instructions as to how we may be saved, and the "sinner's prayer" is not a part of those instructions. Here are those steps, in simple terms:
Kurt Warner is an outstanding football player, and from all accounts, a very nice person. But the error on this football card is too great for me not to comment upon.
