Andre Dawson
Montreal Expos, Chicago Cubs, Boston Red Sox, Florida Marlins
Outfield, Designated Hiiter
After toiling in relative obscurity for 11 years in Montreal, "The Hawk" splashed onto the national scene in 1987 with the Chicago Cubs, hitting 49 home runs in front of national audiences on WGN-TV. Even though he had been an All-Star three times with the Expos and finished in the Top 10 MVP voting three years in Montreal, it was not until 1987 that Dawson received the national attention a player of his caliber deserved. He won the MVP Award that year, leading the league in home runs, runs batted in, and total bases. He finished his 21-year career with 8 Golden Glove Awards, being named to 8 All-Star teams. Dawson is one of only four players to have hit 300 home runs and stolen 300 bases in his career.
