Ichiro
Seattle Mariners
Outfield
Ichiro burst onto the American baseball scene in 2001 after spending nine years in Japan's professional league. He broke the record for most hits by a rookie in 2001, and led the American League in at-bats, hits, stolen bases, and batting average. He became only the second player in history to win both the Most Valuable Player and Rookie of the Year award in his first full season. Ichiro also played a major part on his team, helping the Mariners reach the playoffs despite the loss of one of the game's brightest young stars. If Ichiro's rookie season is any indication of how he will play during the rest of his career, he should reach the Hall of Fame without much difficulty.
