STEREOPHONICS - Performance and Cocktails

This album is the second from the highly successful welsh band, although they are not as widely know as maybe say OASIS, But they have their own following...and what can I say to start with about this album but simply it's quite brilliant. Every song is a great song and could be a single THAT'S how good I think it is...Right on to the Song by song review, so that you can get a idea about the song's.

1. Roll Up And Shine

This song start of really rocking, and if your into rock then you should like this and this also is the first taste you get of the rough vocal's of the lead singer. This song just pick you up and takes you along with, their is a great chorus with excellent guitar work, Hell.. the song is so sing-able you won't be able to help yourself. 9/10

2. The Bartender And The Thief

Well yet another rock 'in song from the lads but this one is continually up-beat. This is the first single that was released from the album and hit top 10 if not top 5 in UK charts, If you listen to the word's they are utter nonsense..But, who cares it's a bloody good song. 10/10

3. Hurry Up And Wait

In Contrast to the first 2 songs this is a slower more melodic song, and the nice slow beat kinda makes you sit their and bob you head in rhythm to the song. And as with all the song's on this album you will find it is very singable.9/10

4. Pick A Part That's New

This I think was their 2nd release in the UK, ah damn are you getting the jist of these yet?..well this is a middle of the road rock song that is upbeat and really get's you going while your listing to it. Picture this..Your listing to this song and you all of a sudden look at you foot and what the hell, it bobbing along to the music - hehe you know what I mean don't ya. 7/10

5. Just Looking

This was the 3rd single to be released. Well this is simple a chill-out song, ever feel stressed out?, Well after listing to this you'll be sufficiently chilled. As with all the songs on this album you should really listen to word's so that you understand the song not just for singing it but for the enjoyment. 8/10

6. Half The Lies You Tell Ain't True

This song start absolutely brilliant, it's just jumps in feet first and rocks you, and you want to be rocked...right? of course you do. The structure of the song if listened to on a decent system is..well.. just outstanding because you pick up the inctracy of the song. 9/10

7. I Wouldn't Believe Your Radio

This was the 4th single to be released. This is a song that makes you sway from side to side with the beat and is also real karaoke material. Sing wise the lead singers vocal's make this a song the really in my opinion is only suited for him and him only. 8/10

8. T-Shirt Sun Tan

Start's of with great guitar work that leads in to the rough vocal's, It is kinda hypnotic in it's sound (maybe theirs a hidden message? - j/k). It's probably the guitar work linked with those welsh rough vocals. 8/10

9. Is Yesterday, Tomorrow, Today

Man..these melodic tunes are chilling me out..lol, Are you getting that this is yet another melodic tunes for a chill out session, although it still keep's it's rock background you can definatly chill to this 7/10

10. A Minute Longer

When listening to this song, what you need to do is just sit back a close your eyes, and yes, yet again Chhiillllll.....lol, am I saying chill to much?..well maybe I am but sod it..I am reviewing this not you. This is probably the slowest song on the album, but it is still class material. 9/10

11. She Takes Her Clothes Off

This song is about someone who was a beautiful women but can't accept what old age has done to her..strike a bell with some ppl?, Well It's still a really great song although it's not as much rock and as..well..you standard alternative song..But you should like it..I do. 8/10

12. Plastic California

When I listen to this song it reminds me of something I have heard before but I can't quite pin it down. This song starts quiet but gradually build's up t be a great rock' in song, which of course as I have said before you have to listen to these song's. 9/10

13. I Stopped To Fill My Car Up

To me this is a song that is totally appropriate to put on the end of a album, It starts of with just a piano and the lead singer, singing of course, then when it is about 1:40 in to song the drums come in and it really does add depth to the song and fills it out...but be careful this song can be very melodic and hypnotic. 8/10

Over all me personally I would give this album a 9/10 because I love it although it is not perfect enough to give it a 10/10
