Dekowski wins in style |
A memorable performance by USA Hall of
Famer Donovan Dekowski as he begins to show the form
which would catapult him up the World Rankings. At about
the same time as David Duval was making waves on the PGA
Tour with his winning final round 59 at the Bob Hope -
our man DoubleD was carding a magnificent nineteen under
par 53 in the final round to snatch the title from an
impressive Soccerbum, who also performed heroically to
finish just one shot shy of the title.Bomber just managed
to hold off MillerLight to finish third. Dekowski
pocketed a cool half-million dollars and more to lead the
money list at this stage of the season. Donovan, who had
burst onto the scene during the 1998 season, would
continue to excel in the game all year, culminating in a
famous Ryder Cup singles win against the then-world
number one player, Swedish sensation Anders Bernsveden.
He would end the season as USA's Ryder Cup MVP with a
flawless 3-0 record.
