Screenshots / Toolbar / Fund new industries
Well one easy way to answer that question is to say "pretty much everything"!. But to break things down here is a step by step guide to what's new within game play.
The first and most useful addition for me was the addition of screenshots. Without this I wouldn't have been able to compile this site (not with any sort of quality).
This feature as far as I Know is only available in the editor and game play screens and can be found by clicking on the question mark at the top right of the screen this will bring down the menu:
As you can see there are two different types of screen shot and two different ways of creating them. You can either click on the menu item as shown above or press on of these keys.
Ctrl-S this will produce a screen shot at full zoom (minimum landmass visable).
Ctrl-G this will produce the "Giant" screen shot, a shot as if you had zoomed out to maximum.
Once you have either clicked or pressed the Key you want a file in the Format of PCX will be created in the directory that TTDLX is in i.e. c:\mps\ttdx\ and you will see a confirmation box appear on the screen like this:
Note that TTDLX does not ask you for a filename and will name all subsequent shots in numerical order i.e. SCR1.PCX, SCR2.PCX ……… SCR26.PCX.
Staying on the theme of the new buttons on the toolbar, you will notice that the toolbar itself has changed quite consderably:
New additions include:
Changes include
:The only completely new addition must be the ability to fund new Industries, This is a brilliant new feature and adds some more realism to the game. Like the old saying, you have to spend money to make money, and boy you have to spend a lot of money when funding new industries.
The larger the industry the more it costs. For a water tower it can cost as much as £600,000 and that is in 1975. Obviously that is one of the smaller industries so the cost will be more for larger ones. Also over time the cost rises. Once you have clicked on the Industry button you will see a box like this:
These are the only industries available in the desert climate in 1975. Click on one of these to see the cost of placing the industry. Once placed the industry will go through the usual construction process. The other addition to the industries in DLX is that Industries that require cargo to make cargo such as the factory, will not produce any cargo unless it has the components needed.
