FIFA 96
Start a game, pause it (use the START button), select options, and enter a code. You will hear a "click." Exit the options menu, going back to menu with Resume Game as a choice. Press S. You will get a secret options menu. Greyed-out choices require another code. Use Left/Right on control pad to change settings. EA Custom Teams - STXSTTSS JWS :-) Control shadows: 1. Pause in the middle of a game. 2. Select the instant replay option. 3. While holding down button R1, move arrow buttons. Up/down control the length of players' shadows, left/right rotate the angle. This will simulate various lighting conditions. Throw-in to a specific player: 1. Move the "camera" square to a player on the field. 2. Press X and that player is active. Move him to a position for receiving the throw-in. DO NOT PRESS X AGAIN. 3. Now press the square button and the ball will be thrown to the player. Muddy Dolby sound: 1. Obviously, change Dolby to On from the options menu. 2. Most dialog uses the center channel. If you have a system without a center channel dedicated speaker, use your Dolby decoder's "phantom" or "matrix" mode to send center channel output to the left and right speakers. 3. The sound also is pretty damn good with Dolby off, fed through a stereo TV or audio system. Vary strength of passes: 1. Although the manual doesn't mention this, you need to hold down the X button, while selecting a direction, then release the X button to pass. The longer you hold down X, the stronger the pass will be. 2. The same holds true for lob passes (square button). 3. If your lob passes just bloop into the air, as mine did, then this is the problem. Saving penalty shots: When you are the goalie trying to stop a penalty shot, the following combinations have the results shown. Any of the action buttons (circle, X, square, triangle) make the goalie attempt a save. NOTE: You must not hit the action button until the shooter strikes the ball - just like real soccer; if you do, your goalie will just stand there. However, you can be pressing the direction buttons while you wait for the shooter, then hit the action button. Hitting the action button repeatedly will also move the goalie at some point. Direction buttons Action button Result ----------------- ------------- ------ left any dive left right any dive right up any jump up down any dive toward shooter left/down any dive left and out right/down any dive right and out up/left any dive left up/right any dive right Shooting penalty shots: While results seem to vary with player abilities, I believe the following to be true. 1. Striking the ball by hitting the X button is a low shot. 2. Square and circle seem to have similar results. 3. Direction buttons work predictably. Apologies for any inaccuracies. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- [email protected] ...my hovercraft is full of eels. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
