Production aircraft were powered by a 100hp Continental engine. A four seat development, the Aircruiser was flown in 1967 but not produced in quantity. Aerospace of New Zealand acquired the Australian company's Airtourer and Aircruiser designs in 1971 and re-engineered the latter into a two/three seat military trainer. Called the Airtrainer CT4, it is powered by a 210hp Continental and cruises at about 160mph. Fourteen CT4's are currently in use with the Royal New Zealand Air Force. I was lucky enough to fly NZ1944 in 1989 from RNZAF Base Wigram. In the 1990's the RNZAF relocated PTS from Wigram to Ohakea, and changed from the Red/Grey Scheme to a High Visability Yellow Scheme. Pilot Training School Originally based at Wigram PTS has now been moved to Ohakea, operates 15 CT4/b Airtrainers for pilot training. Flight Sim Model The FDE model of this aircraft was originally based on raw data from the pilots notes, but then enhanced by my team of test pilots so that it captures the "feel" of this light trainer. The Airtrainer is a nice to fly - fully aerobatic trainer, and I hope that you find the FSFS model as much fun! Version 3 This is version 3 of my Airtrainer, which is painted it the new high visability scheme adopted in the 1990's. Most of the improvements in this version are in the textures, and flight model.
