Allen" was delivered to United on June 30, 1970. It was the first 747 delivered to United. It was leased briefly to Pan Am in 1985. It is now flying for Polar Air Cargo. *********************************************************************** The flight dynamics of this model are very realistic. You will notice the lack of an auto throttle feature. The early 747-100's and 747-200's did not contain an auto throttle. You will find that the 747 is a whale of an aircraft at or near MTOW. When taking off at MTOW you must allow at least 10,000 ft of runway. Rotation speed at MTOW is about 180 to 200 knots. Because of the Intertia on take off the initail climb out is very good (about 1,800 ft per minute). You will run out of steam pretty quick so settle in at about 1,200 feet per minute at 3,000 ft. When at 10,000 ft level of and accelerate to about 300 knots true airspeed. Then proceed on climbing to FL240 to FL260 at no more then about 1,000 FPM. I advise that you keep your airspeed at or below 400 knots at FL 260. The reason is these early JT9D engines burn alot of fuel at lower altitudes. After burning off some fuel (about 1 hour) you can climb to FL310 and proceed to Mach .82. At any Altitude above FL260 do not climb more then 500 fpm. When the GROSS weight is below 580,000 lbs it is unrestricted and can climb to any altitude you want up to 41,000 ft. *********************************************************************** this plane does work both in FS2K and FS98. You may notice some texture blending in FS2K when zooming out in spot plane view. All planes that are for FS 98 also have this problem when used for FS2K. It is really noticable on large aircraft such as the 747. It helps most if you run in 3D mode and high resolutions. *********************************************************************** I would like to thank Nick Botamer for getting me started in AFX editing and painting.
