Strategy Guide For id Sofware's Quake III 1.08 Test.
1. Intro
Hi, my name is Kyle, and I have made 3 other strategy guides for games like Rainbow Six, Chain of Command, and now, Quake III test. I am on a roll! Anyway, I just want to clear up that this is for the 1.08 Test, not the real game. When the real game comes out I'll try and make a guide for it. I think this guide is more for tactics in every FPS deathmatch. So, here goes...
2. Tactics
Ok, now that you hopefully looked at the controls in-game and changed them to your tastes, what to do? First, start your own game and run around, using your memory to memorize where the guns are, where the best place to snipe is, looking for ways to escape, looking at the layout of the level. So, lets take the level, q3test2, The Longest Yard. It is set in a black space with pads that jump you around on. Its fun, and pretty much the best level for deathmatch in my opinion. There isnt any place to hide, and the pads make for some nice movement. People are usually trying to find a nice place to hide where no one can come up behind and kill them. But, id has done an awesome job of making the levels where there are many entrances to each room. That's awesome level design. Ok, now the tactics. Try to get a bigger gun faster than other people. Big guns mean big frags. Don't waste time and ammo on gibbing people, unless you are really competitive or if it is one on one. Also, don't stand still too long, even though it helps you to aim. It makes it easier for them to hit you. Pretty standard stuff, huh. Well, it IS the basics, remember. I'm not gonna put advanced tactics like the other ones, you should know or learn from experience. This is just the bare bones for newbies. If you have a tip or strategy, send it to me via the
