These days Jericho rarely breaks and trains the animals at
Hidden Grove, although now and then a particularly troublesome or interesting situation
may arise that requires his personal attention. Strangely enough, given his seeming
dislike of other people, he is usually the one who gives riding lessons, and teaches
owners how to work with an animal they have purchased from him or had trained at Escuela
en Bosquecillo Escondido. Tyler seems to be an excellent teacher, save that he does not
tolerate cruel |
| mistakes. He has been known to break students of bad habits by
applying that habit to the student, thereby making him all too aware of how the horse
feels. He has even gone so far as to fashion a bridle that will fit a human,
complete with a heavy steel bit and long leather reins. An hour or so wearing that,
he says, will cure anyone of having heavy hands. |
In addition to basic riding, Tyler teaches roping, cutting, jumping, and to a limited
degree, jousting and other war techniques. His main concern with training riders is
that they learn to communicate with their steeds so as not to undo the careful training
the animals undergo. |
