Quake date 991803 Well I have only recieved a total of 3 votes so far. I guess everyone is going to wait till the 23rd....hehehehe. Come on and download the maps/levels and do some voting on these fine maps/levels. (These people ned the votes).

On other news there will be a major change coming to The World of Havoc web site. So keep your eyes open and also if your in the Virtus mailing list you will hear the news first hand.

Quake date 990803 OKay it's voting time! Everyone has 2 weeks to get their votes in for the contest. Follow this link to the contest page. Each file has the contest.doc file that is to be used, when you upload your vote name the file after the name of the map and add your initials to the file name..ie mapname.doc would be mapname(your initails).doc without the ( ) please. Voting ends on 23 March 1999 at midnight. All votes will be counted and posted on the 25 March, 1999 with who made the map/level, who won what prize, and the map with full info on how long it took to make.

Quake date 990403 Okay only one more day left to turn your maps/levels in. When the voting starts please save the voting form as the map/level name with your initials at the end of the file name...ie death.bsp would be saved as on the voting form deathsh.txt this will help in not having multi file names for the voting. The maps/levels will be on the site on Monday for downloading and the voting will begin. So good luck to everyone.

Quake date 993101 All right some info. As of right now the contest has been moved up to March 5th 1999. So everyone that was having problems with their levels, computers and what not, I'm giving everyone some extra time. So now there shouldn't be any other hold backs.

Quake date 992001 Well I added a link for a map that was sent to me asking for it to be added to the web site. Due to the size I had to link it to the orignal site. 2.15 meg file but well worth it. Okay i'll tell you what level it is.....Gibcity2. Talk about a city (reminds me of good 'ol Duke's stomping grounds) Any how this level rocks!! Grab it while you can. It's on the MAPS page/Supply Station here. This guy spent some time on this level so grab it and send him some e-mail letting him know about his work. Okay [21+] Sarge?

Quake date 991201 We have picked up another sponsor, Rainbow Express Courier & Shuttle Service, Inc. They will be providing the following prize.

Yes you see right Quake II Extremities (netpack 1). So get your butts a building those levels. Because you never know, your map/level might get picked from the maker in due time. ( not a guarentee but what the hey ya never know). So now for prizes we have for first place a cool knife, one which is worth $50.00 and the other 2 knives are worth $40.00 each. We will also be giving away for 2nd or 3rd place the Extremities pack. Now all we need is one more sponsor and we will have all place's covered. (Don't ya just love a contest that is done by the seat of the pants...as in prizes.....hehehehehe Just a little incentive to get the blood flowing.) If your just coming to this news area plaese read the other news dates for info about the contest (it's in yellow type).

Sgt. Havoc

Quake date 991101 I have recieved some snail mail today of some of the prize's that will be offered for the contest. The sponsor wishes everyone lot's of luck in the contest. Here are a few pic's of them.

DMM2 news... Okay all you map/level makers out there, Misery has just found some very interesting info about using DMM2. Have you ever wished you didn't have to make lights and they stick out and people get stuck on them? Have you ever checked other peoples levels out (not DMM2 users) and see lights on the walls, ceilings but there isn't anything protruding from the walls? Well this is what you do. Select a light from the textures menu, then on the lower part of the screen there are some tools, feet, texture tool and arrows, select the on right beside the feet. Another set of tools come up, make sure that you have your light texture selected (will be in a green box) under the + mag glass there is a box, click on that. Now your window will change, draw a box and the graphic will be applied to that spot. Now you have a light on the wall. Misery's maps is huge and using this little trick will save you in compile time. Since you don't have a lot of boxes hanging around. He told me it took him 2 mins to compile on a dual p-200 pro. I said no way. He sent his map and I compiled it and it took me 3 min 52 sec's to compile. This little trick is called postering. A very cool way of doing some neat stuff to your maps/levels. There are some draw backs to it though, on slanted halls you can only have it on one area, and you can't do the samething to another slanted hall because it will leak. I thought that this little bit of info could be used. (Misery's going to kill me for blabbing this......hehehehe That's why they call me Havoc, I like causing a lot.....heheheh) Well if you allready know this sorry, if not give it a try.

Quake date 990701 Well now on the contest again, Beginner lets put it as anyone 6 months or less building levels for Q2. Intermediate being anyone that has been making or playing around building levels over 6 months or longer for Q2. Expert well I would say this would be under the payed to make levels, like working for id or any other company that pay's people. Hope this explains any confusion. Any how this is to be a fun thing to do and see some really great peices of work. When you upload your map/level just add a small txt file in it stating what level your work should be in. Just remember that everyone will be voting on all maps sent to me.

Quake date 990401 Okay it's been brought to my attention that it would be a good idea to have in the contest beginner, intermediate and expert. So this way everyone will have a chance. So get to building those levels. Also I have just picked up a sponsor for a first place prize , one will be given to the first place levels in beginner, intermediate and expert.. But the rules still go. You make the levels and everyone votes on them. Also will be working on adding more prizes for second and third place. But as right now the sponsor will be providing the first place prize.

Quake date 990101 7:00pm OKay well it's time to start this contest. Here is the rules.

1. All maps must be less than 1 meg zipped (this is due to the server will not allow any files 1 meg and over...sorry)

2. All files should be sent to Sgt. Havoc , there should be no name in the map of the person that made the map. In other words you can name your map but not add your name into the map.But it can be included in the normal text file that is needed for the information. When I add the map to the board it will only have the level in the zip file. ALL LEVELS WILL BE IN .BSP form.

3. All voting will be done by the people that download the maps. I WILL NOT BE DOING ANY OF THE VOTING. This contest is by the people , for the people.

4. Must be for Quake2 DeathMatch only.

5. Start of contest will begin on Monday January 4th, 1999. Last day to send your map will be February 4th, 1999. The Maps/levels will be posted on February 6th, 1999. Voting will last for 2 weeks. All votes must be sent to Sgt.Havoc by February 20th,1999. The voting form to send can be found here. Final count and who made the maps will be posted on February 25th, 1999.

6. This contest will be done in FUN. Nothing to win except for recognition for the hard work done.

Quake date 990101 Happy New year!!!!! Well I can't believe it's 1999 already. I am getting ready to post the rules for the Quake/Quake2 level contest. Hopefully I will have them worked out by this weekend. If there are any suggestions to it please feel free to e-mail me [email protected] of you can click the Com Center button.

I just hope everyone had a fun time in 1998 and wishing everyone a very good 1999.

Quake date 982912 Hello every one. Thanks for stopping by and checking out my reworked site. Hope everyone likes it. Now that I have gotten the hang of using DMM2 by Virtus and putting out a few maps (which there are a few that haven't made it to the site just yet) and trying new things out, I thought I would do a little update to the site and let everyone know what I think or don't think. Okay as for maps on the site? We have maps here? Sure we do but just a few. I plan or should I say I hope to change the maps out on the site about every month. This is due to space on the server that I am using. A big 20 megs but that can run short real quick. So if there was a map on the site here (which I will have the name of the map on the site) and was taken off for another map please send me an e-mail and I will send it to you. Or I might see if there is a nice person out there that will hold the file and I can link to it....hehehehe any takers on that one? I plan on having much more added to the site as it grows. A big thanks goes out to Misery, Dragon [SLO]='s, Melvin. Now Misery and Dragon have a web site that I think are great. Misery's site is called Misery's Editing Page and Dragon's is called Dragon [SLO]='s Domain, each talk about Quake2 and DMM2 editing, So stop by those sites for more info about Quake2 and DMM2 editing. Now for some news. I plan on having a small level contest ( nothing to win just yet ) but for fun. Keep checking here about the start date of that. Now to get ya thinking about what I am looking for is a 8-16 player DEATHMATCH type level for QUAKE2 and QUAKE. Would like them to be Mid-Evil lay out. More of this to come later. Thinking around the first of Jan. 1999.
