What Does
ssVBEmu Screen Saver Do?
ssVBEmu Screen Saver is a, guess what!, a Windows 95/98/NT Screen Saver. It faithfully emulates 'Space Invaders' (also 'Space Invaders Part II' and 'Lunar Rescue') hardware and when used in conjunction with images of the original arcade ROMS, allows the Space Invaders to save your screen while you are away from your desk (or at it). After your specified time interval, ssVBEmu Screen Saver will kick in and treat you with the game in it's full glory. What's New in Version 1.01a? ssVBEmu Screen Saver now supports 'Lunar Rescue'. There is also an option to disable scan lines (though a fater processor is required). Finally, you now have the option to select a random game to screen save, rather than the pre-defined one. Will the Screen Saver let me Play the Game too? Normally in Windows 95/98, pressing any key or moving your mouse will return you to your desktop, BUT if you insert a coin first, (by pressing key 3) it will then allow full keyboard and mouse input and let you play away at your leisure. (note: Pressing the Escape key will return you to your normal desktop.) Check out the online help, available from the 'Settings' dialog, for key controls. Here's the catch, for security reasons, Windows NT uses a different desktop to run its Screen Savers on. This desktop does not allow any keyboard input whatsoever, and therefore thworts any attempt to play the game. Though, if you run ssVBEmu in 'Preview' mode (from the desktop properties dialog), you can play in the same way as you would under Windows 95. What are the System Requirements? A Intel P150 or equivalent and any half decent graphics card should do the trick. Is there Anything Else I Should Know? ssVBEmu Screen Saver is VERY processor hungry, I wouldn't use it if if you will have any background tasks running when in screen saver mode (i.e. don't install it on yor NT server). How Do I register ssVBEmu? Registration is free, simply follow this link and fill in your details. Why Do I need to register ssVBEmu? An ego trip, I guess... |
