The waiting's still not over - There is still not much more to tell you than last time. As you could have read on the message Tony's written for us he's still talking to the record companies. Last time I saw him was the 2nd of April, mother's day. We're 3 weeks further now and so something might have happened. 3 weeks ago Tony said he's still working in the studio and he's "got about 10 albums by now.." Wish we could hear them all....... He should have some demo's ready soon, so maybe next time I've seen him I can tell you guys some more about the latest music he's recorded.
Everyone, please remember to keep me updated with all you hear, I might miss something important while I am in Germany. Especially those of you who are planning to go and see Anthony this summer, email me if you met him and tell me all the news. I might be in London for up to 6 weeks this summer myself, so hopefully I will have some news when I get back after that!
That E-17 story about splitting up is not true now... There's still hope the 3 of them carry on so that's good news for all of you who are fans of theirs. They're going for a deal as well at the moment and are working on an album. Brian's solo career is something he does next to E-17.
"Still no news" - The news is that there isn't any news at the moment. I haven't seen Anthony since October. The latest I know is that he's planning on something 'round February. I haven't got a clue if that still goes ahead. If I have the chance I'll go and find out in 2 weeks. I am trying hard to get myself over to London again. Before I forget - Anthony said thanks to everyone who sent in messages for the birthday card. He really liked it. I will try to update this page again as soon as there's some proper news.
There's a little thing some of you might be interested in. It's not directly about Anthony, but about the other 3 he used to be in a band with. It's now for sure that there's no more E-17. Brian resigned and decided to carry on on his own. Let's all support him in all he does.
"We're getting there" - There hasn't been very much news lately for 2 different reasons. 1. my exams and 2. there's just nothing much going on. As I said before: an album was finished, but Anthony wasn't satisfied yet. I met him about 2 weeks ago and I got to hear some of the songs. I thought they were absolutely brilliant anyway. Tony wants to change the music to some of the songs. He said: "we're getting there - at least I got al the songs now, it's just the point of changing the music". He's just a perfectionist as we all know. I got to listen to some wonderful stuff and I hope we all will be able to do the same very soon. He as well said it doesn't make a difference going to record companies now or next year as they are all busy getting ready for Xmas now.
I am sorry there isn't much more to say at the moment. I will be off to London in about 2/3 weeks time. I am planning to do another interview, so please send in your questions! Also it's going to be Anthony's birthday 'round then, so please send in lots of happy birthday messages to pass on!! Thanx in advance! Please use the email form for this.
A little more news on the personal front from me - I will probably move to Germany in November. Then I might not be able to work on this page so often. I will try to keep on updating things every now and then.
CD finished! - Half an hour ago I got a phonecall off my mate Emma - sort of London correspondent of this page - who met Anthony today. According to Emma he was in such a great mood and was extremely positive about his future. After all these years it's starting to look like it's really gonna happen soon now: The come back of Anthony Mortimer!
What's happening now is that his CD's finished, it's gonna be picked up tomorrow, and then he'll go along to different record companies to try and get a brilliant deal. "It's probaly the 1st or 2nd one I visit" he said, so that's positive! It all looks very bright at the moment. What I've heard today is that's he's gonna be 2 months. Knowing the music bizz it might be a bit longer, but he's getting there!
Hopefully I'll be able to give you more details and some even better news when I get back from France in 3 weeks time!

My London trip - As you all probably know by now I visited Tony last Saturday, the 19th of June. I was pretty worried before going, as I was pretty desperate to get the interview done. I didn't know if I was gonna see him at all, but I did. Also I didn't know what he was gonna think of me doing this page, and if he wanted to do an interview. But it all worked out perfectly. He seemed very happy about me doing this site, and he was willing to answer quite a few questions. Altogether it must have been about an hour I spent with him. I also took a few photo's, but I didn't finish my film. As soon as I got those developed I'll scan them and they'll appear on the interview and photo pages. Apart from seeing Tony my weekend in London was a bit of a disaster.... but it has been worth it in the end. Now I am back home trying to sort my college work out.
It's hard work being a "reporter" and a student at the same time.I will try to get a few bits of the interview in some audio form to be available for download. This might take a while to get sorted as I am gonna need my brothers help with that. And he's almost as busy as I am. There are only a few bits of the tape really clear, and that's why I didn't think it was suitable as a price in the competition. The winners will receive a signed photo.
I suppose the ones who sent in messages for Anthony are curious what happened with them:
The book - In the end I received quite a few messages from visitors of this page (Thank U all so much!!!!!) and others, so I passed on the file full of messages. I was meant to just show it him as my mate in London was still awaiting some stuff from girls she writes to. Tony was delighted to see that so many people are still here for him and he wanted to keep the file straight away to read it later on. I promised him to pass on more messages if I receive any more. So people out there, you can still send Anthony messages. Just use the email form and I will make sure your message will get to where it belongs.
Well, there's one more thing I am sure some of you are desperate to know:
Baby rumours THE TRUTH - To sort out these rumours for once and for all: No! there's no new baby and there's no new baby expected either. Tony said I should know as I'd seen his girlfriend quite a few times in the past year. "Don't you know, before a baby is born your tummy grows... it takes 9 months, did you see anything?" No, I never saw anything and that's why I never believed in those stories in the first place. But when one of the visitors of thise site told me she'd see Tony with a baby in his arms outside his house I started to doubt a little bit. But that's clear to me now, as he told me his girlfriends sister has got a 6 month old baby. That's the one!
Baby rumours - Rumours have been going round for a while that Tony's girlfriend is pregnant again, or even that a 3th baby's already been born in the Mortimer Family. I first heard about those rumours about a year ago and I did ask Anthony about them. He denied then and so far I haven't been told anything different. The times I met his girlfriend, (I have to say it's been a while since I last saw her) she didn't look big whatsoever. I haven't heard Tony talking about any new babies, so I think I can say the rumours aren't true. But it only takes one sh*g to make a baby, so things might have changed by now or they could change at any time. We never know.
I had the luck to be able to meet the man himself recently. On Sunday the 16th of May I spent an hour with him. I was down the UK for a few days and of course I had to go and see Anthony too. I'd been missing him and all the news so much. The first thing he said to me and my mate was : "long time no see" as we hadn't met since January.
Anthony's come-back - Tony told me he is still determined to come back into the charts. As some of you might know he started a new band (once called Subzero) after he left East 17. This band has had diferent singers, but they never found the right combination. Tony felt he couldn't develop himself fully within this new band. He said, not being bigheaded, he was too famous to be in a band and that he was overshadowing the others. That's why they never came out. Now he's working on a solo come-back and he said he was gonna "kick Robbie's ass". All Robbie fans, please don't be offended, later on he said he doesn't mind Robbie at all. He used this as an example of what he wants to do: being as big as Robbie!
I was in the extremely lucky position to hear a bit of the new stuff he's written. Unfortunately I am not allowed to say very much about it. All I can say, it's brilliant, and when it finally is out it will definitely be worth al the waiting.
