A further development of the Saturn Circuit Edition, USA Evolution will feature several new courses, 8 player multiplay and D3D and MMX support. This will be the definitive Daytona!
I am not quite sure but I believe that Daytona USA Evoluation has been renamed to Daytona USA Deluxe. Anyway there is a new demo available for Daytona USA Deluxe, only in 256 colours though :-( . You can download it below.
The two biggest reasons for this low score are frame rate and lack of hardware acceleration. On the back of the box, it says "D3D patch coming soon online". It's been a few weeks since I received this final, boxed copy and still no patch! I had hoped it w ould be available in time to save the graphics rating of this game, but it isn't so it doesn't. If you look at the hardware I'm evaluating the game with, it's state of the art as far as Windows DirectX is concerned, and yet I've still got a frame rate whi ch is barely acceptable. It might run 15-20 fps, but it sure doesn't run at anything above that, at least not in high resolution.You can run the game in low resolution or high resolution (640x480) and you can choose whether or not you want 8-bit or 16-bi t color. No matter what I selected, I found the frame rate to be average. I can only wonder what this game runs like on the recommended" hardware configuration!
