Contrary to his flashy looks, Benimaru remained the undefeated fighter in the Tokyo streets for 18 years. His fate dramatically changed when he challenged a classmate in fighting, and was defeated. It was obviously Benimaru's poor decision to mess with Kyo Kusanagi, one of the strongest men in Japan. The defeat was a clear one, and Benimaru could do nothing but laugh at himself. From that point on, Kyo and Benimaru became close friends. When rumors came about about the King of Fighters tournament in 1994, Beni gladly entered with his buddy and Goro.

However, ever since the trio has enjoyed the glory as the reigning champions, one thing concerned Benimaru deeply. Because of his exceptionally strong partner Kyo, it seems like Benimaru has the reputation of being the "Second man of the Hero Team"....certainly a disgrace for the attention-loving Beni! Though he cherishes his friendship with him, Benimaru's thoughts of Kyo is a fragile and complex one. In King of Fighters '97, Benimaru's on a quest of his own. To prove that he is definitely worthy of the attention fit for a King of Fighters!

Benimaru's attachment to his vanity and looks are very famous, if not common sense in the King of Fighters world. He is very kind to the ladies, and will help them in their struggles in match. This may be a very important factor when team editting. His range is long and his agility is great. His power wields the strength of lightning, which may suggest a blood tie with Shermie, that neither of them are aware of.
