To get this star, you must climb to the top of the mountain, and beat the big bob-omb in a man to man fight. There are two ways to get to the top of the mountain. The first way is to run straight along the path that you start on. Take a left at the top of the bridge, run past the chain-chomp, and over another bridge. Walk up the couple of steps and hang a bit of a right, to go through the gate in the fence. Turn left and just follow the path to work your way up the mountain. Be careful to dodge the boulders on the way up.
The second (and quicker ) way to get up the mountain is to use the warp zones. When you start the level, walk straight up the path, and at the end of the brrifdge, instead of taking a left turn, jump over the fence, and turn left. You will see a yellow patch of flowers. Stand perfectly still in the middle of this and you will warp to another patch of flowers. From these, run straight ahead through the gate in the fence that leads to the mountain. Start making your way up the mountain, until you come to a hole in the side of it, where boulders fall out. Stand about in the middle of this hole, and you will be transported into another hole further up the mountain. Walk out and you will find that you are right near the top. Jump up to the top and you will come face to face with the big bob-omb.
To defeat the big bob-omb, simply talk to him, and wait till he walks foreward, run around the back of him. Pick hum up, and then throw him down. Do this three times to collect your first power star. Be careful not to fall off the mountain or to throw the big bob-omb off, otherwise, you will have to start again.
