History of Pokemon
Pokemon(po-kay-mon or po-kee-mon) first debuted in Japan on February 27, 1996. It was the highest selling game in the history of Japan. Now it comes to the United States hoping to be the same here. To their surprise it didn't do as good as in Japan. It did better!! Overwhelmed by the sales there was a Pokemon shortage of the Gameboy Games. All stores were booked and it was impossible to get the game. On September 8, 1998 the Cartoon Show was aired. Within days it was the #1 show for ages 1-12 and 13-17. With the release of Pokemon Snap and Smash Brothers for the N64 all games on the Top 5 Selling Games were Pokemon Related. Pokemon Pinball and Pokemon Yellow didn't do as well, but it made it in the Top 5. Pokemon Blue is the most selling out of all these games. The Pokemon Phenomenon is still going strong with the Future release of Pokemon Stadium, TCG, Attack, and Gold/Silver. |
