___________ "Janus, don't you know, you can't hide stuff from me," whispered Jereco

___________ "I was gonna tell ya' boss, swear"

___________ "Yeah, that's what he said...

___________ "Vincet, this is dispatch control, we got a 486 out on the corner of South and Main"

___________ "Copy that dispatch, I'm on my way"

___________ Vincet changed gears and slowly pulled the car around and started to head for the Corner of South and Main. When he arrived, he saw Sgt. Henderson with a few cops in a circle around the murder scene. Vincet stepped out from the car and ran over to the circle. As he came closer he saw the image of a man with a bald head and a small beard. It was Janus, his partner. He had left him yesterday by the bus stop on Peach St. How did he get from one side of the city to the other. Something was wrong. After discussing the situation with his Sgt. They both thought it would be good for him to take some time off. He set off home thinking about his friend... It was Saturday, Vincet awoke in a room with a girl beside him. As he turned to look at her he had a splitting headache. He wondered to himself how much he had drunken last night. He stumbled out of bed and made his way to his pants which were laying of the table. As he came closer to the pants he collapsed and fell on the floor... Vincet was awakened by the kiss of lips on his mouth. He looked up at the girl who was now dressed, and he quickly stood up.

___________ "What happened here last night?" he asked The woman just started laughing as she headed for the door and left. He grabbed his stuff and left after her. He followed her into the elevator.

___________ "Where are we" he asked. She looked at him and gave him the keys, (...Shangrali...it was close to his house, he hadn't gone far). When the elevator stopped on the ground he said bye to the mysterious lady and left for his apartment.

___________ 2:34PM-Vincet arrived at the office.

___________ "The Sgt. Wants to see you Vincet" the secretary told him as he walked in. He opened the door to his Sgt.'s office and entered.

___________ "You wanted to see me"

___________ "Vincet, meet your new partner" As Vincent turned his head he saw sitting in the chair in the corner the lady from the Shangrali. His heart skipped a beat and he quickly turned back to his Sgt.

___________ "Excuse me sir" Vincent rushed out the door and headed for the bathroom as quickly as he could. He kicked open the door to the stall and fell to the ground. As he puked out his breakfast into the toilet he could feel the tension slipping away from his body. Afterwards he just sat there for a while until his Sgt. Came in.

___________ "Are you okay?" Vincent stood up and washed his face.

___________ "I just had a bad night"

___________ "Well come to the office, now" Vincent walked over to the office and went inside.

___________ "Both of you, I want you to find out who killed Janus and why" As Vincent and his new partner walked out of the room Vincent asked her name.

___________ "Katrine Robulsca"

___________ "Okay...Kat, where do you want to start"

___________ "You were there, weren't you, I wasn't" Vincent walked to his desk and started to look over his notes and letters that had been given to him.

___________ "Let's go to the Corner's office" Vincent snatched his coat off the coat hanger and hurried to the car. He opened the door for Kat.

___________ "What a gentleman" As they were driving to the office Vincent started asking her questions.

___________ "Did you know who I was last night?"

___________ "No, I just thought you had money but you were flat broke after buying all that alcohol"

___________ "I need to pass by the bank okay, it will only take a second" Vincent pulled over and got out from the car. As he was walking to the bank he heard a gun shot then a man in a silver suit smashed through the window. The man pulled up his gun and said.

___________ "Freeze mutha... He was silenced by the sound of a gun going off and piercing through his kneecap. The man fell to the ground in pain and his leg twisted around. Vincent could see his bone sticking out from his leg, he felt like puking again...

___________ "You feel better" Vincent stood up and flushed the toilet.

___________ "Is he alive?"

___________ "He's in the hospital"

___________ "I need some money"

___________ "I'll lend you some, com'on, we gotta continue this case, let's head over to the corner" Vincent got into his car once more and drove to the corner's office. As they entered the secretary motioned to them to enter.

___________ "What are you doing here" said the corner.

___________ "The body of Janus was left here last night" replied Vincent.

___________ "That's what headquarters said but no body is here"

___________ "Let's radio this in" suggested Kat. Later... half of the police department was in the corner's office investigating.

___________ "Sir, whats happening" asked Vincent to his Sgt.

___________ "Vincent the body's not here, continue investigating until we find out what happened here" Vincent brought Kat to his house and gave her some coffee. The rest of the day Vincent and Kat sat down and tried to figure out what was going on. 12:21AM-Kat and Vincent were finishing up on there work.

___________ "I'll see you tomorrow" said Vincent Just as Kat was opening the door the phone started to ring. Vincent picked it up.

___________ "Hello"

___________ "To bad about your friend isn't it"

___________ "Who is this?"

___________ "If I were your friend I'd close the door"

___________ "...Kat, close the door and come inside now"

___________ "Aren't you the protective one, to bad you couldn't do the same with your friend"

___________ "Where are you?"

___________ Beside you"

___________ "Don't bullcrap me"

___________ "I'm everywhere, around you, behind you, ...I'm watching you"

___________ "f*$k you" Vincent hung up the phone then ran to his gun.

___________ "What's going on Vincent"

___________ "There's some psycho on the phone" Vincent loaded his gun. The phone rang again.

___________ "What do want?"

___________ "You and your pretty little friend dead"

___________ "Com'on, come inside, I dare you"

___________ "I already am" Vincent looked around the room.

___________ "Come get me and Kat, com'on"

___________ "Vincent!, help me"

___________ "You here that...Vincent"

___________ "...Your forgetting about me"

___________ "No I'm not" Out from behind the couch came a dark figure dressed in a black cloak . You couldn't see his face. He jumped on Vincent causing him to smash through the table. Vincent was down on the floor. The dark figure rose above him. He quickly grab on to the nearest piece of broken glass and thrusted it right through the figures arm. Vincent rolled over and got up. The figure was gone. The window was open and he could hear the sound of dripping water. He walked into his kitchen and hanging there was Kat, there was a big puddle of blood under her. He ran to the phone and called the police. 12:58AM-The police arrived at his house. As he showed them to the kitchen, there was nothing there. The body and blood had disappeared. But the house was still a mess.

___________ "Go to your brother's place for tonight" said his Sgt. He left the room and headed down the fire exit. As he arrived at the street, it was raining. He called a taxi and got in.

___________ "108, Mellow drive please"

___________ "Your brother's place" Vincent looked into the front of the cab. As he stared at the drivers licence on the dashboard, it seemed to change into a dark figure with no face. He glanced over at the driver. The figure was staring directly into his eyes. He reached over to the door. The figure locked it. Vincent started slamming his fist against the window until it started to crack then finally break. He started to climb out the window then the figure slammed on the gas and half of Vincent body was outside of the car and the other half was in. The figure in black swerved into a wall. Right before Vincent's head would have been crushed Vincent through himself back into the car. The Speedometer was showing 180. Vincent was freaked out. Vincent grabbed onto the closest seat belt and put it on. Then the car smashed through a wall and into the river down below. Vincent smashed into the front of the car as it hit the water. When he opened his eyes the car was full of water and the figure was gone. He frantically swam out the hole in the window and went up to the surface. He climbed out of the river and went to the nearest pay phone. He picked up the phone started to dial his brother's number.

___________ "Had a fun ride"

___________ "What the hell are you donning in my brother's house?"

___________ "What are you doing on a pay phone in the middle of nowhere, don't you know it's dangerous to be alone at night."

___________ "Who the hell are you?"

___________ "Your worst nightmare"

___________ "Listen you son of a b*#ch, I'm sick of your stupid games, why don't you just come and fa... The phone got cut. It had no dial tone. Vincent looked around. He couldn't hear anything. Foot steps started towards him, they grew louder and louder as time past. The glass from the phone booth suddenly broke and flew all over him. Then a figure in black came to him and whacked him on the head...Vincent woke up...he could see light spilling into the broken down room he was in. He was tied to a chair. It was late and he had bruises all over his face and he was very tired. He jump up as he heard the sound of a gun shot and he fell down on the floor. The leg had broken off the chair. The figure who was know covering the light took out a knife and started to cut the rope. As soon as Vincent was free he jumped to his feet and looked around, the other person was gone. He ran to the next room. There was a body hanging from the ceiling. As Vincent looked closer, he saw that it was his ex-partner Janus. He started to feel dizzy, he stumbled over to the door, as he opened it a body fell on top of him. It was Jereco, the drug lord from down town that he had been after for years. He push the body off and got up, a figure from behind him crashed into him. He got flung into the air and broke the railing that was around the staircase. He fell right through the middle. As he neared the bottom, he hit the side and his shirt got caught onto a broken piece of wood. The figure above him took out a gun and started to shoot at him. He reached up and pulled himself to the second floor. From there he ran down the flight of stairs and out on to the street. The figure ran down after him. It was raining. As he opened the door to get Vincent, Vincent hit him right in the face with a plank of wood. He heard and loud crack. The figure lay motionless on the floor. As Vincent bent down to take off the cloak that was covering the figures face. The man grabbed him and picked him up. Vincent could see the mans face, it was Janus.

___________ "You, it's all your fault, you left me, you that bastard try to kill me!"

___________ "Janus?, I, I, you died...he killed you...why, why did you do it"

___________ "You wanted me to die, you left me with Jereco, you didn't back me up"

___________ "I didn't know where you were, I thought you went home early"

___________ "Then you got a partner the day after I died, how could that be, unexpected" Janus threw Vincent on the ground, then he took out a gun and pointed it right at Vincent's head. There was a loud bang. Janus fell on top of Vincent, blood started to pore all over Vincent's face. He pushed of his ex-partner and saw Kat. She had a gun in her hand and a bloody face. Vincent stood up and ran to her as she fell to the ground.

___________ "He took me and tied me up in the room, who was he"

___________ "Never mind that, are you okay?"

___________ "Yeahh, I'm just... fiinne" Vincent ran to the nearest phone booth and called the police. In a few minutes the police and ambulance arrived and took Kat away. It was over. The mystery was solved yet still so unclear.
