Strategies for building a better city:
I recommend to start out in the year 2000. It is easier to see how many years have passed, and you also have more options. Save your city often just for safety if something would happen (power out, computer problem, error, ect.). Start your city with a strong industry, because that is the basis of a city. Put your industrial near commercial, and commercial near residential. Mix zones if a part of a zone is not building or if it is abandoned (example: put a block or two of commercial in a abandoned or unbuilt part of the residential). You don't have to start a city with water, but I recommend to. You need power more that water, so if both are low, build more power plants first. Keep all your police, fire, hospital, and school systems up to date because when they go under, it is hard to get it back in line. Keep all zones within 3 spaces of road, so don't make them wider than 6 spaces. That is all I can think of for now, so if you have any questions/comments, just E-Mail me.
