Today Polar is feeling

You must have like this site to bother coming here, or maybe you just click on the wrong link? If that's the case, click here to go back.

So what's it all about?

Digimons. This site is all about Digimons, from their first appearance as virtual pets in 1997 to present day.

The latest info about Digimons comes from Japan and/or USA and since I don't live in either of these 2 countries, it's hard to get the latest info about them (if I get any at all). What you see on this site is a result of me surfing the internet, gathering info from different sources and putting it all together here. Think of this site as a library or a resource center. (Hmm... maybe I should have called this Polar's Digimon Info Center instead. Oh well, too late.)

The 6 commandments

  1. Give credit when credit is due. I believe that people should be recognised for the effort they have put in. That is why I try my best to acknowlege people and websites I've obtained the info/image from. It also saves me a bundle on law suits :)
  2. Thou shalt not steal. It's rude to take things without asking so I will try to ask the owner of the website for their permission before putting anything on my site. All I ask is for you to have the courtesy to do the same too. If you do take something from my site (or any others, for that matter) please credit the originator and provide a link back to the website. Do not pretend it came from you when you got it from somewhere else. Most importantly, do not take my pictures and send them back to me, pretending to be the originator. Don't laugh! It has happened before.
  3. Simplicity is the best. I'm still using the same webpage design from the HTML days. That's because I believe you're here to look for Digimon info and not to just look at the graphics. I've kept the simple design so the page will load faster. I know what it's like to visit a nice-looking but graphics-intense site using a 56k dialup connection - it just takes forever to load. So a simple design, thank you.
  4. A picture speaks a thousand words. Having a simple design doesn't mean there's no pictures. It means that I've just kept most of the pictures on a separate page so that you can still surf the rest of the pages without having to wait for all the pictures to load.
  5. Criticise if you must, but there must be a point to it. I accept constructive criticism. By that I mean, that besides telling me what was wrong, you should also offer some suggestions or at least point me in the correct direction so I can correct it. It's no use just telling me that my site sucks. If I don't know what's wrong, I wouldn't know how to improve it.
  6. Mind your manners. I believe that people should be treated with basic courtesy. Send me a rude letter and I will delete it without a second thought.

The evolution

I started this site in 2000 as I was learning how to create a website using HTML. For the next 3 years, everything on this site was created using only HTML. It was a bit tedious but I never really thought about using visual editors to edit my webpages. Besides, it was fun to see all the HTML codes I typed in turn in a nice looking page.

In November 2003, I installed Dreamweaver into my computer and started using it to edit my webpages. That's my first encounter with Dreamweaver and there's no looking back ever since. A couple of reasons contributed to making the prospect of using Dreamweaver more and more attractive.

Firstly, the site has gotten too big to update and maintain using only HTML. This problem alone might not be reason enough except that my life has also gotten busier and I cannot afford to spend long hours a day working on the site. I need something that can help me shorten the time spent and it should be powerful enough to be able to create webpages at a snap of the fingers. (Okay, maybe not that powerful yet, but who knows in the future?)

And so I turned to Dreamweaver.
