IPC AND IGAMES
RULES AND POLICIES
Since this club was founded on the belief that pinochle is for fun, there's no reason
for a long list of do's and don'ts......
- SO, RULE NUMBER 1.... HAVE FUN !!!
- All mass messaging to hosts should stop 5 minutes before tourney is scheduled to start.
- Boot rule is simple; the team that remains keeps
whatever meld they have on the board that hand regardless of what is happening in the
hand. The team that booted receives nothing. 3 BOOTS FOR A TEAM IS A GAME FORFEIT -
DOESN'T MATTER WHY, or WHO - THE 2ND IS OK, THE 3RD IS AUTOMATIC FORFEIT OF THAT GAME!!! Exceptions to the boot rule are, if a team has a double run
or double aces and they get booted...no matter which team boots, they save the meld even
if they had not saved yet. A booted player has 10 minutes to return. An attempt to find a
sub should begin after 5 minutes by the remaining member of the booted team and the game
continues from the score before the boot. No more than a 10 minute delay should occur for
a boot AND a team cannot win on a boot. If you are in
the last hand and someone boots, the team that remains keeps meld and another hand is
played, even if the meld put you over the game limit. A player can sub only one time during a tourney. Also note
boot rule to go into effect starting March 10, 2000.
- If the "Igamers glitch" (where there is a bid made, but one or more players
does not see it on the bid history screen) happens during a game, teams should get score,
regroup, and reseat. The hand DOES NOT count toward the
hand limit and DOES NOT count as a boot against either
team.
- A BOARD SET (one where a team takes the bid without
being able to assemble 20 meld) will be deducted from total score in case of a boot by
either team. This rule is also in effect when, at the beginning of the hand, a team is
required to pull 50 or more points in order to save meld.
- Each session will run for 12 weeks.
- On the 13th week the first day of playoffs the bottom 32 (positions 17 thru 32) will
play off for 4 wildcard spots...the second day of playoffs the top 16 plus the 4 wildcards
will play off for session champion.
- You may play in as many of our tournaments as you wish.
- There is no need to sign up for tournaments (except leagues) - just be in the room
before it starts.
- You do not need to play with the same partner for each tourney.
WE MUST BE CAREFUL OF ANY CRUDE REMARKS - IGAMES IS GETTING
VERY STRICT ABOUT THESE THINGS AND IF SOMEONE HITS THE COMPLAIN BUTTON AND A SYSOP COMES
IN - I CAN GUARANTEE YOU WILL BE BOOTED FROM IGAMES AND THEN IT WILL BE A HASSLE TO GET
BACK ON.
The secretary of the committee will keep a record of complaints lodged against players,
as well as the players who lodged them. If there are a number of complaints lodged against
a player (the number may vary depending on the type of complaint lodged) the player will
be asked to attend a committee meeting to defend themselves against the complaints. If the
committee deems the complaint(s) valid and the infractions continue, the committee may
take actions against the player it deems appropriate, including suspension from IPC
participation for a specified period of time and/or a permanent ban. The committee regrets
the institution of this policy, but it is necessary in order to maintain the enjoyment
level of the game for the majority of the players.
For suggestions or comments, please email us.
PLEASE NOTE - THIS BOOT RULE WILL BE EFFECTIVE MARCH
10, 2000
When either team boots and there is no way a bidding team can save the bid due to the
number of points outstanding being less than the number of points required to save, the
bidding team will be regarded as having been set and the bid points will be deducted from
the score. The setting team will retain their meld and the points will be added to their
score. If the setting team has attained 20 trick points, those points will be retained and
added as well.
When either team boots and the bidding team has already saved their bid, those points will
be added to their score. If the opposing team has also attained 20 points, those points
will be retained and added to their score.
IPC POLICY
Due to numerous complaints, IPC has been forced to institute conduct guidelines. The
following infractions will NOT be tolerated.
- CHEATING - IGames would prefer that IPC handle cheating allegations in its events
as an internal matter. Anything IPC cannot handle with regards to this will be dealt with
by IGames in accordance with Sections 1.4 and 1.5 of the IGames policy quoted below.
Cheating is a serious accusation and is not a matter to be treated lightly. No direct
allegation should be made to the offending player(s). The player making the allegation
should include all details in an Email letter addressed to the IPC Committee. The
Committee will then determine whether there is any substance to and grounds for the
complaint, and will request further details from the accuser when and as necessary and in
any manner they deem fitting. If the Committee deems that the complaint has validity, the
accused will be asked to attend a meeting with the Committee to answer the allegations. In
the interests of privacy, the accuser will NOT be named. The Committee will then meet to
determine whether the allegation merits further action and the accused will be informed of
the results and actions to be taken, if any. Failure of the accused to attend this meeting
may result in a determination that the complaint is valid, and the accused dealt with
accordingly as the Committee deems fit and proper.
- HARASSMENT - IGames and IPC do not permit players to harass others for any reason
whatsoever. Matters will be dealt with as above and in accordance with Section 1.3 of the
IGames policy quoted below.
- POOR SPORTSMANSHIP - Matters of this nature will be addressed by an Email letter
addressed to the IPC Committee. This can include, but will not be limited to, incidents
involving criticism of another player during a game, leaving games before completion
either because things haven't quite gone your way or because of the point spread and other
such displays.
- FOUL LANGUAGE - This will not be tolerated regardless of the reason or
circumstances. Upon an incident involving its use players will IMMEDIATELY press the
"Complain" button to alert IGames and their Webmaster, who will take action as
he/she deems appropriate in accordance with Section 1.2 of the IGames policy quoted below.
The IPC Committee may later request the accuser to detail the incident by Email
correspondence. This letter may be forwarded to IGames for corrobation.
