Getting Started
To play this game you'll need a java capable browser, as in Netscape Navigator 3.1 or higher or Microsoft Internet Explorer 4 or higher. With regards to which browser works best, I'd say that the most recent versions of either will do fine (I use the Netscape browser), though I've noticed some of the colors come out better when I've used recent versions of Internet Explorer.
New comments on browsers:
Call me behind the times, but the most recent browsers I've used with tAoL are Netscape 4.x and IE 4.x. I've heard some complaints that newer browsers are *not* handling this applet very well. Until I get a chance to confirm it or deny it myself, if you send bug reports/problems to me particularly of the sort "when I click on the screen to start all I get is a big yellow nothing" please include which browser and version you are using so I can pinpoint what the problem is and if it is fixable. Thanks.
Story
After Link first rescued Zelda, they each took one of the
two Tri-Forces and made their way back to the Palace when suddenly they were ambushed.
Link thought he had vanquished Ganon but he had only seriously wounded the villain. Link
sent Zelda ahead while he fought bravely to hold up Ganon and protect Zelda. Alas, Ganon
turned Link to stone... Our story begins when Link regains consciousness in the wood. His
Tri-Force is missing, as well as Ganon and Zelda. What has become of them? Only you can
solve these mysteries...

Tips
To the north are two caves where the Woodsman and an Old
Woman live. Visit them, they have valuable information.
Directly south of where Link regains consciousness is a
familiar face...
Use bombs everywhere! Especially where the landscape may
seem conspicuous. There are 16 secret rooms throughout the land, finding them will make
your quest easier.
Link can use his shield to deflect the rocks and boomerangs
that are thrown at him by Octoroks and Goriyas. To use the shield just stand facing the
projectile.
Faeries like to live near water, especially lakes. They are
friendly and can heal Link.
When Link has full life his sword will magically
"shoot" at the enemies.
