One of the hardest things about the Spirit Temple is finding it. To do this, you must first enter Gerudo Valley. Cross the fallen bridge by spurring Epona over the small canyon. Ride on until you get caught by one of the guards. She will put you in a prison. To escape, equip your longshot and aim at the top of one of the upper windows. You will get pulled up to stand on the windowsill. As you jump off, fall towards the left so that you fall on top of the stone tunnel. Enter one of the doors and explore. Your main task is to find all of the trapped thieves. Every time you find a thief, you will have to battle a Gerudo Warrior.
Every time that you defeat the warrior, you will release the trapped thief in the cell. You will eventually have to explore almost every door. You will have to sneak by the guards as best you can. Here is a helpful hint: you can temporarily stun a guard wit the longshot. When this happens, run like hell so that you are long gone before the guard recovers. You can also kill the guards if you want - but for some reason I do not think that is the right thing to do. After you free every thief, you will meet one of the chief Gerudos. She will give you a membership card to the training room and grant you the honor of a "friend" so that you will not get jailed every time you see a guard. You are now free to roam all about Gerudo Valley. Head towards the large gate. If you climb a ladder on the right side and speak to a guard, she will open the gate and allow you access to the desert. For more information on crossing the desert, read the "Ocarina Songs" summary. After you learn the song that will warp you back to the Desert Colossus, you must warp back to the Temple of Time and place the Master Sword back into its pedestal and become a child again. As a child, warp to the Desert Colossus and enter the Spirit Temple. You will meet a Gerudo Warrior telling you to bring the Silver Gauntlets to her. Crawl through the small tunnel and explore the level. You will have to use your boomerang in some spots to hit switches which you could not otherwise reach. You will have to use the Lens of Truth in some rooms to see invisible enemies (usually in the rooms with a big sun imbedded in the wall. After you defeat all of the enemies, you will have to somehow get light to shine on the suns in the wall.
In one case, you will have to use a Bombchu to blow a hole in the wall near the ceiling. This will shine sunlight on the sun and permit you to continue through the temple. Remember to light any unlit torches. In some cases there are statues that you must push onto switches (in some cases actually pushing them off the edge of a small wall). Continue in this fashion until you find the Silver Gauntlets. At about the time that you open up the treasure chest, the Gerudo woman will start yelling at you from the desert and tell you to get the hell out of this area. She is warning you about the evil witches (the bosses of this level - you will not fight them yet, however). The witches will zap the Gerudo woman into some other dimension. In addition, there is one particular monster that I am not sure whether you fight as a kid or not. In case you do, here is the strategy. The monster is a big piece of walking metal carrying a huge axe, I think. Z-target the monster and jump backwards when it winds up. It is about to smash its axe down onto you. When it has swung its axe, it is vulnerable to attack. Attack with your jumping-slashing attack. Repeat this method to defeat it. Once again, I am not sure if you encounter this creature as a child. I do know, however, that you will encounter it as an adult. Speaking of adults, warp back to the Temple of Time and change into one. Then warp back to the Desert Colossus and enter the Spirit Temple. Because you are wearing the Silver Gauntlets, you will be able to push the block out of the way. Now explore the other half of the level. There is one place where you might need an item from the Shadow Temple, however. There is a room where there are three boulders rolling back and forth. The only way to advance, in my opinion, is to use the Hover Boots to collect that last rupee in the air. See the "Shadow Temple" summary on how to find the Hover Boots. There are more suns that you will have to shine light upon. Do so and you should soon open a large treasure chest which contains the Mirror Shield. This is a strong shield which can deflect magic beams and even sunlight. Believe it or not - you will have to use this shield against the boss. It comes into use in the level, too. You will have to use the shield to reflect sunlight onto suns in many cases. Near the end of the stage, after you climb up the huge, moving wall, you will see many mirrors and a sun. There does not appear to be any sunlight, though. You will have to bomb through many of the surrounding walls to finally find the sunlight. After that, you will have to orient each mirror so that the sunlight finally shines on the sun. After this, a platform should lower into the room with the huge statue. The head of the statue is the doorway to the boss. You will first think that the boss is another one of those huge, metal giants. When you defeat the boss, it turns out that it is really that Gerudo woman (now a slave) in a costume of one of those giants. The witches will appear again and you will have to follow them into a huge room. One witch commands fire and the other witch commands ice. You will have to deflect the fire witch's fire beam onto the ice witch. It is tough to do, but if you manipulate the joystick in the correct fashion while holding out the shield - it can be done. After this goes on for a while, both witches will hover near each other and one will attack you at a time. At this time, you will have to "charge" your shield by absorbing three similar attacks in a row. After the third similar attack, your shield will shoot back that attack and you will have to aim it at the appropriate witch. Keep this in mind: the attacks must be similar attacks. If the ice witch shoots at you twice, and the fire witch shoots at you - do not try to absorb the fire beam. Instead, retreat from the beam and wait until the ice witch attacks again. In this fashion the witches should soon be defeated. Pick up the heart container and exit via the light. You will find out that the Gerudo woman is in fact the sage of the Spirit Temple. She will entrust you with her Spirit Medallion. Your next stop is the Shadow Temple, which is covered in the next section...
