Unknown is my Destiny
by The Unknown Samurai

The Venerable story teller paused for a moment, as if remembering something from long ago, ...then as the flickering lights of the campfires danced is his eyes, He continued...

"Unknown is My destiny"

The Sunset was a brilliant red and orange and the light gave the country side the look of days end. Master Sutero standing at the Temple Gate was watching a lone figure walking down the winding path from the Temple.
As the Master watched His Mind flashed back to the day the Young Man came to Them. How He found Him, how He was raised at the Temple, how He played with the other Orphaned Children, how His Training and skill developed, how His questions were relentless, and how much He loved Him as He would His Own Son.
One day as a Young Boy came the question "Master, Who am I."
"You are Who You are" Grinned Master Sutero.
The Young Man smiled back at His Master and bowed.
"I mean where did I come from."
Master Sutero pondered for a moment then put down His quill. He stood and beckoned the Boy to follow Him to the Temple library. In the farthest corner of the room Master Sutero reached for a dusty book that was buried on the bottom of a stack. It looked as if it hadn't been disturbed for many Years.
He opened the book and revealed a hollow in the pages containing a necklace. Master Sutero took it and showed the boy who had finally stopped coffing and sneezing from the dust.
"What are they Master"
"This was taken from Your neck the day You were found."
The boy stared at the symbols on the stones," The House of Mirumoto and Ikona Master, what does it mean?
"Your Father was of the Dragon Clan, Your Mother of the Lion. I know not of there fate, as it was a servant who hid You and was slayed protecting You".
" I must find the lands of My Father and Mother Master, I must find out the fate of My Parents"
"That day will come soon enough," Master said with a hint of sadness.
Time jumped ahead again to the Sunset and the Gate of the Temple where Master Sutero and the Young Man stood.
"Will I find My Destiny Master?"
"Unknown My Son."
"I find it hard to say good-bye Master."
"Then do not say it, instead let Us look to the future."
They looked into each Other's eyes and said with Them what could not be said with their voices. They embraced as Father and Son would, then the Young Man turned and began walking down the path to His Destiny.

Master Sutero would stay and watch at the Gate all night.
