Mediterranea: The Company of the New Millennium

Hello everybody

Here we are with the usual message for the new year.

From the distant 1996 much has been done in Mediterranea. But to celebrate the entrance in the new millennium and our fourth anniversary Mediterranea will keep on the work that you have shown to appreciate and will update some of its activities.

1999 was a year full of satisfactions. The success of our initiative is underlined by the number of pilots (over 230) that have shared our desire for fun and friendship. By now you must know that: Mediterranea is an excuse for making new friends, knowing other people and above all have fun together.

It is not necessary to remind that Mediterranean has been the First Italian Virtual Airline. But what we must know and consider, with pride, is the fact that Mediterranea has opened the road to the creation of many new Italian Virtual Companies and has given life to this beautiful activity.

We are sure that the enthusiasm and the friendship that we of the Staff put in this activity has infected you.

As every year we want to devote a space to the thanks: the first recipients naturally are You, Pilots of Mediterranea.

Allow me to make a very particular thanks to the craftsmen of this initiative that I judge very beautiful and above all very tiresome. I want to remind and thanks the components of the Staff

Do not tell me that I am exaggerating if I use superlative adjectives for describing the job that they have done and that they are doing for Mediterranea. Just the fact that they dedicate daily their free time to Mediterranea and to your fun is enough to show their dedication and their passion for the hobby.

Then thanks to the Staff for what you have done and for what you are creating.

Closing the chapter thanks, I would like to illustrate the activities for the year 2000.

The Confirmations

Confirmed the actual Staff with new insertions, the work for the Hubs in Rome, Stockholm and Milan continues.

To these we will add a representation office in Florence, with relative web pages. These pages will be hosted in the town server where we hope to acquire new friends. Thank you Florence.

Year 2000

Mediterranean is getting ready to face the year 2000 in the best possible way. We have verified that our programs that handle the assignments and registration is Y2K compliant, but with the help of Javier De Lope we are rewriting our exclusive software MEDIGEST, essential for the management of the assignments and of the Pilots.

Mailing List

From November we opened the Mediterranea Mailing List. For the one that have not join yet, the mailing list is waiting for you. The mailing list furnishes upates on Mediterranea activity but above all anbales to meet new friends and speak about flying.

The Fleet

Thanks to our "technicians" and your criticisms we are updating the whole Mediterranean fleet.

Sceneries

The development of the beautiful scenery Italy-Malta introduced as a preview for the Net by Mediterranean is continuing.

In fact thanks also to the direct contact with the authors SPERONI and COLOMBO we are assured in having timely and reliable updates.

Collaborations

We are contacting persons of the simulation world in order to get their authorization to distribute their very beautiful freeware creations and project.

New Proposals

• The Long Range Flights
  Here is the message of presentation: "Mediterranea LONG FLIGHT". With this new initiative it is intended to complete the panorama of our destinations with long range flights, seeing also the increase of the numbers of pilots that can use the big liners. For the time being the flights can be chosen as free flight but as soon as possible they will become assigned flights.
  For the execution of these flights the use of the new B747-200B combined to the fantastic panel of S. Grille which contains an inertial navigation system is necessary. The advantage of such a system is due to the fact no add-on is needed.
  
• Medit Around the World
  Here is the message of presentation: "Around the World 2000" this new proposal will permit you to reach, with our planes and our flight plans, the most beautiful areas of the Flight Simulator World.
  All Mediterranea's pilots can participate, according to their ranks. The flights can be chosen and made as free flights. In addition to the main flight, there are shorter flights to be done. These flights bring you in the remote angles to see spectacular panoramas and sceneries.

Web Pages

When you will be reading this message the main Mediterranea site will have already started the revision of the site after the one already done on the Hubs.

Thanks to the Staff of Mediterranea and to new collaborators we are preparing new pages that we hope will be more pleasing. We will do a complete revision of the links, and by the way we invite you to send the address of your home pages so we can publish them on our site.

Other Initiatives

Other initiatives are already in an advanced stage of development but we will disclose them as soon as they are ready.

To conclude I would like to say something: I would like so much that each of you find oneself in Mediterranea. Mediterranea wants to be the Company of and for everybody. Thanks to your help and the precious criticisms that this Company receives, Mediterranea is able to always offer a better service to you.
