Mediterranea won the Battle of the AirlinesMediterranea Airlines won the trophy The Battle of the Airlines in the team and individual rankings. This year the The Battle of the Airlines had the name of The Search for Atlantis and was celebrated from February 7th to April 10th. According to the organization, this trophy was the largest virtual air race in history with just about 200 pilots at the start. Initially Mediterranea Airlines took part with three squadrons formally called by the organization Mediterranea1 (Parolini, Ibleo, Massone, Reita, Damiani, Combattelli), Mediterranea2 (Calana, Fanfani, Lampis, Blasi, Purello, Marino) and Mediterranea3 (Pinna, Tronci, Cordi, Bacetti, Romeo). There was a squadrons reorgazionation and the final compositions were Massimo Basile, Giovanni Combattelli, Giorgio Parolini, Andrea Massone and Carlo Reita, for Mediterranea1, and Carlo Romeo, Paolo Fanfani, Alberto Lampis and Stefano Blasi, for Mediterranea2. In the teams ranking, Mediterranea1 won the competition and Mediterranea2 held the 7th position. ![]() In the pilots ranking, Massimo Basile held the first position and Giovanni Combatelli the third one. The rest of Mediterranea pilots positions were: (5) Giorgio Parolini, (7) Andrea Massone, (10) Carlo Romeo, (15) Paolo Fanfani, (34) Carlo Reita, (50) Alberto Lampis and (57) Stefano Blasi. ![]() This is an image taken in Rome (27-05-2000) of our participants.
