Scarius:Space Pilot was my first real game and kicked this whole shabang off. However, I didn't think it was worth having its own page anymore. At one point it had this whole complex layout, but it just didn't seem worth it anymore. SSP was very important to me in terms of becoming becoming a better programmer and just doing neat stuff. A lot of the things I do now are influenced by it. For example, the red/blue Weasel Works color scheme. Also, the Thanks page was lifted almost entirely from SSP, which had a neat little mini-HTML renderer for the between level story text and thanks screen.
Anyways, SSP is a side-scrolling space shoot-em-up arcade game. There's a couple levels, save game capabilty, etc etc etc. It's actually fairly nicely done despite not having many levels included. I spent a lot of time on this and I think it shows. Keep in mind it was my first real game. If you really want it, I can eMail a level and objects editor to you as well as the source code. You might be able to do something neat with it. That's how I made Vocab Blaster, by editing the objects, levels, and some source code.
Features
- SVGA (640x480x256)
- 16 bit sound
- Mouse or keyboard control
- Built in CD player
- High frame rate
I really recomend not playing this on less than a Pentium 166, although technically it should work on 386s. Don't try it or I'll slap you silly. SVGA is required. A mouse and sound card are highly recommended.
