Why kill the goose that lays golden eggs?
Lucas are back with Monkey Island, and another episode of jokes and fun. For those of you who don't remember (or didn't play Monkey Island 2) you ended up as a little boy in an amusement park in the end game. In this game however you start as a full grown Guybrush Threepwood again floating in the waters after already escaping that horrible park.
You do not find out how exactly he managed to get out, Which is a shame. The game itself is really good and has many funny jokes (and bad ones too). The game tries to combine both the fun in Monkey Island 1 & 2. Just like in Monkey Island 1, you will have to fight your way to the master using insults, and just like in 2, you have two gameplay difficulty options and the end sequence also consists of a number of screens with Lechuk coming every now and then to throw you away.
The game itself has a great soundtrack, very pretty SVGA graphics and animations, and good speech acting. I was going to rate this game really high...
Till I finished it...
The end-game cut-scene is extremely short, silly and bad. After spending so many hours playing the game I expected a really grand ending sequence and I was let down by Lucas.
It seems like most Quest type games put a big fuss in the intro rather then the outro, sure its fun watching a long and beautiful intro sequence but it's more fun watching a great outro once you've finished the game (at least in my opinion and I'm writing the review). Actually the only company so far who gave me a real remarkable outro sequence was ACCESS software (both with "Under a Killing Moon" and "Pandora Directive"). So it was really dissapointing.

Great game, good puzzles, good sound and graphics. Funny and packed with jokes. However the end game is most dissapointing and bad.

If you don't mind a short dissapointing ending, run and get it, it's great. If you do care for a better ending perhaps you should find some other funny game to play (even though you probably won't find a better one than this), so maybe you should get it anyway :).
